NP28 front sight?

It's tiny, and it appears to be a little wedge that's shoved into the top of the slide? It's not a standard dovetail. I'd like to replace it with something a bit larger and more visible, but how do you get this thing out?

That doesn't look like an NP28
that looks like a torkerov and they don't come out

It's a NP28 9mm 1911

This version is peened as per the original 1911. Narrow tenon if memmory serves.

It is a standard early model Colt 1911 sight. Colt have three models. narrow tenon, wide tenon and dovetalil. You want a narrow tenon.

To remove it, put a piece of tape on the slide, beside the sight; grab it with pliers and pry it staight off, like pulling a tooth.

Lots of options. I switched to fibre optic.

I help things out by lightly taking the dremel to the inside of the slide to take away some of the sight material and put a slight bevel on the inside of the square hole to peen the new blade into. Brownell tool for peening is handy.
