Nr acr

I went with the Green Mountain barrel. Asked Herron about going with something better like Krieger and he said he has used green mountain for many half moa or better builds (not ACR's though). I am excited to get it back. I have a new rifle length hand guard, Geissele SSA-E, a stack of 50 BW mags and 2 moa micro ready to throw on it! All I need to figure out is what sling I am going to use.

Don't forget your Maglula bench loader. :D BlueForce Gear or Urban-ERT for the sling.

It took the RCMP about 8+ weeks to reclassify my ACR to NR and my paperwork was submitted by Ian. Man was i glad i got it done while i still can, especially whats happening in the news now!!

x2. I was very surprised that it only took one week. Couldnt of happened faster.

Also went with the ATRS AT 15 brake. Thought about getting it machined in but wanted the flexibility to change the muzzle device if I wanted something different.

Will have to learn about slings with this rifle...never used one before. I like that it has so many QD points!

For that $900 does he keep the 16.5" barrel as an assembly so you can do the quick change back and forth between the two barrels? or does he move all the hardware onto the new barrel?

He moves the hardware to the new barrel. Not sure if you get the original back, or really why you'd want it. You'd need a gunsmith to move the stuff to the old barrel if you wanted to use it!!! :)

wasnt sure if he moved the hardware over or ordered new hardware. With the ACR that is kind of the benefit, the quick change barrel system. so if you kept all the original barrel setup you could quick change between the two. ie. if one were to run a carbine course or something they'd probably switch it over to teh 16" barrel for teh day, as the SS barrels have a much lower round count barrel life.

Until BM comes out with the conversion kits this is the best option. NR with AR comparable accuracy.

What is the difference I barrel life between chrome lined and ss? I thought 223 was pretty easy on barrels unless you are using really hot loads.

And change its classification from non-restricted to restricted every single time?...

No way in hell.

If im not mistaken the policy is that you must report within 30 days any modification which changes the classification of a firearm. If you change the barrel back in the same day they why the status wouldnt need to be changed.

Pretty sure you're wrong Sly.

That applies to ARs where they are restricted regardless. The guidance I've been given on this very question is that changing the barrel length on a non-res firearm without having a restricted registration to go with it is full on prohibited. The rifle becomes a prohibited device as soon as you finish installation.

I would love for someone to show me hard evidence on the 30 days thing in regards to NR --> R classifications. Because its something I want personally to be true. But so far, it looks like a no-go.

Your wrong... Prohib? Come on man. You can change the barrel length on many non-restricted firearms untill the cows come home, doesn't make a lick of difference. With a SEMI AUTO non-restricted fire arm IF you change the barrel to a length BELOW 18.5" you have 30 days to report the change. It's just that simple.... Now, if you were to have a firearm with quick change barrels and one of the barrels was below the 18.5" mark, I would think you'd need to register said firearm as restricted. That said, if you didn't have/use the short barrel my thinking is it should be fine as non-restricted.

I could be wrong, as i said i was under the impression that the rule was 30 days. I could very well be wrong, so having it somewhere in writing would be nice to see.
