NR pistol calibre carbines

The biggest problem I had with the CX4 was the trigger, it is the part I felt the most when using it felt mushy, which I hate long mushy/2 stage triggers like that (hate my VZ 24 for having a long 2 stage trigger even if its better). I even preferred the Chiappa M1-9 trigger even though it was a 10 lb pull weight monstrosity it just broke when you pulled it hard enough and wasn't mushy.

It's probably very polarizing being very sci-fi and not having a freestanding pistol grip or a traditional rifle stock.

The CX4 has an acceptable trigger from factory. And most competition requires an aftermarket job to be good anyway.

The SP kit makes the CX4 as good as can be.


No matter what, out of all the PCC's I have handled, or shot, which are many.... the CX4 is still the king.

The looks turn a lot of people off, but dispite that it is still consistently the winner... what does that tell you?

To answer your question, You have not shot a lot of PCC's! I own and love my CX4 Storm but to suggest the factory trigger has an acceptable trigger is to say the trigger's sole job is to activate.... eventually the sear. Good god man the trigger new is >10#s, is squishy and just adequate on a good day. The only trigger job I have ever heard on the gun was to replace all the polymer parts with metal ones to get to an average trigger. The trigger assembly has more parts and angles to it than race track punter on steroids. Even the lowly Sub2K has a better trigger.

Actually the ergo and looks are what drew me to the CX4. It is Italian designed, what would one expect from the country that produced Sofia Loren, Ferrari sports cars and the CX4 Storm. The pinnacle of PCC Function ...perhaps not. Try the SIG MPX or a gussed up AR 15 9MM or a Rugger PCC The latter has an acceptable trigger the others somewhat better

If these were NR and could run 10 round Glock mags I would own at least one for sure (MPX preferably although the JP offering does look sharp)

My only real gripe with the CX4 was somewhat its appearance, the bulky permanently in the way irons, the nothing special trigger, the lack of customization and the thick plastic fish like feel you get when you shoulder it.
Otherwise id agree with most and say it is an excellent PCC.

I ultimately settled on the AR ergos and customization offered by guns like the JRC, ASR, FX9 and TD.

The CX4 even assembled fits into places that a traditional layout does not. My NR CX4 easily fits into a regular duffle bag assembled... and taken down with the single pin fits much smaller.

As for a prop.... yeah... it wasn't modeled as a prop... it was selected as one because of its look. Battlestar galactica comes to mind. But if you think that is a negative I guess the C96, tavor, Aug, beret 92, g36, fs2000, FG42, etc should also be counted as cheap sci-fi props.

But feel free to not listen to me, or the many others singing along...

Look at the many threads, forums, blogs, and so on... the CX4 continues to surface.

The cx4 is the best reliable Nr in my opinion right now in canada , I tried the Jr the keltech sub2k the pc9
Cx4=10 rounds mags factory, 10/30 mags available ,even beretta 96 mag will fit , Sierra Papa complete upgrade is really awesome, reliable easy to clean and takedown ,Eotech friendly , picatinny to put flashlight sling bipod grip etc
 
I like my CX-4 but i will favor my Thueron 10 mm as i think it's reliable and powerfull, A lot more zip than my CX-4.
 
Sniffer from the list of your wants take a look at the Ruger PCC. Takes Glock mags, has a decent trigger, is easy to take down and has decent iron sights. The build quality is surprisingly good. Guys who I respect here who shoot a lot have said they prefer the standard model over the 2nd version with the MLoc compatible forearm. The latter apparently adds weight to the front end which some don't like.

Most guns produced today are dead nuts reliable including the Ruger. My plan is to use mine in IDPA and IPSC PCC shoots. The gun is non restricted which is nice if you want to play in the field. The gun would make an acceptable truck gun - I have the Sub2K for that. I guess it depends on what you want the gun for. Competition, plinking, small game hunting or just chasing paper at the range etc. If I wonder down to the US the Ruger would be a blast using 33 rd sticks in IDPA. Probably not real competitive as you can be sure someone will have a MPX with 30 rounders in the magwell. Might be worth picking one up here just to enjoy the gun even if all you can load is five rounds.

Hi Point Carbine 9mm seems to be a good choice. I am going to pick up one so, there will be a review to follow. I am looking for extra magazines right now before I pick up one.
 
I have CX4's with tens of thousands of rounds through them. They are among one of the most reliable firearms I've ever owned. Even in NR version, they are compact. Very accurate. Easy to mount optics. They are actually the PCC I compare all others to.

The only downside is the trigger, which can be solved by practice or a Sierra Papa upgrade, which is not cheap, but is excellent.

When a gun goes 5000 rounds and you forget to clean it because it always works, you know it is a winner.

I second this whole heartedly.

I have owned 3. Sold and regretted the sale... so I bought another.

Mine makes the tour around the country with me (including the east coast to visit my inlaws as I write this) because there is no other gun I want should the need arise.

I think this says a lot.
