Depending on what province you're in and the location in that province your Fish and Wildlife people may not be of much help. However, they may be quite willing to charge you with shooting game out of season, without a licence, in a no shooting area, etc. The bear is habituated to finding food in your yard, the best you can hope for is to discourage him from looking for it in your yard but he will also be checking your neighbours, the problem won't go away as long as this bear is nearby. I have had moderate success in keeping them out of my garden and apple trees by spreading mothballs around. Works great to keep moose, deer, dogs and cats out of the garden too. The very best non lethal deterrent I found on bears was to hammer a bunch of 3-4" nails through pieces of plywood and place around the attractant area, pointy side up. Very effective. Guns are a final solution of course, but check the legalities beforehand. If legal, do the job permanently, don't try scaring tactics, that's for slingshots and low powered airguns and usuually unsuccessful. Good luck.
