O’Dell Benelli M4 Clone :)

I picked up one of the benelli M4 clones that O’Dell Engineering brought in. I have to say it’s a very well built shotgun. I stripped it down and cycled some dummy rounds. It felt just like my friends M4 (maybe a tad lighter). Internally it’s built very well, no rough edges or machine marks. Internals are chromed. I will be taking it for a spin tomorrow to see how it cycles with all kinds of ammo. Not sure how to upload pics to cgn anymore so I asked a good friend to post them on my behalf. Please see post below.

Please be mindful this is not the $700 version imported by another importer. I can’t comment on the other one, I can say that I’ve dealt with O’Dell Engineering for a few years and never had issues with their imports.

I'm interested to pick one up and compare it with my buddies M4, as far as I've read the only thing designed different is the buttstock.

I have a M4 and love it. If these work as good (if they're reverse engineered correctly I cant see why they wouldn't) for that price its the deal of the century

Benelli cant be thrilled about this? Have they commented? Or has a patent just ran out which makes such a move open season?

Given HK's involvement in the Turkish arms business, and that HK used to own Benelli it's possible they had access to plans for licensed production, and have waited out the patents.

I am pleased so far, looks fantastic! Mine is coming; should have it by next week. Please keep us posted.

I'm very hopeful that this miggt be the best buy of 2019 IMHO.

Waiting to see how these perform over the next year or so, supposing Benelli doesn't shut them down.

I don't think there's much Benelli can do, its been 20 years since the M4 hit the market and the patent would be expired.

Benelli will have to accept a lower profit margin and lower their prices for the retail M4s.

Hopefully, although I wouldn't be surprised if Benelli ceases production of them in the near future.

Between the emergence of clones and the apparent loss of the U.S. military contract a few years back, I can't see how they make money. Plus, the design is getting a bit long in the tooth anyway.

Canada has the 5-rnd (shell) limit for semi-auto's. I suspect the 4+1 is to avoid any possibility of a shotgun failing this "test." Basically, when you get yours, as long as it doesn't fit more than five, 2-3/4" or 3" shells (whatever is stamped on the barrel) in the tube, you're good.

Good to know, I didn't realize this was also applicable to tubular magazines.
