I recently took the course - its been reduced to a half day. I found it beneficial as I knew squat about turkey hunting before. Seems that a good portion of the course dealt with how to avoid being shot by other turkey hunters... Not sure how I feel about that. Couple that with the fact that about 15% of the course opted to be tested verbally...
red-white-blue... 4-5-6... buy quaker boy this... buy quaker boy that... thanks for the money.
Common sense rules. If you don't have it, don't hunt.Only complaint I have with the turkey course, and I think this is the problem with all hunting and firearms courses is that it is too easy, it's been dumbed down so any yahoo with a single active brain cell can pass. We have no problem with spending tons of money and time chasing down hardware but when it comes to information, we know it all.
Your right, we need way more information to hunt turkeys then what is covered in that BS course, give your head a shake and go sit in a field on a crisp may morning.... all the education you need.

Yea I did and some yahoo shot my decoy from 10 feet behind me.
And I am sure he had all the courses, my question is why he passed?
People like that should be weeded out right at the PAL course.![]()
