***OFFICIAL*** FAMAE SG 542 SEMI-AUTO .308 is NON-RESTRICTED **ACCEPTING PRE-ORDERS**

Wasn't that dealer that started the drama with the SAN rifle?

I never heard anything but good reviews from TI.

Would like to thank you TI for making this rifle available for us. I will be putting my order soon.

http://www.theshootingcentre.com/sans-overview with supporting documentation too. I don't care who you order from but at least get your facts straight.

I would suggest that in case of a Swiss Arms prohibition that you please view the following parts interchangeability from the Swiss Arms "Classic" platform to the 540 for current Swiss Arms owners;
  • Lower receiver
  • barrels
  • gas systems
  • furniture
  • mags
  • BCG and bolt
  • aftermarket parts from third party companies
  • anything else I've overlooked due to unfamiliarity of the platform
That should help folks salvage what they can from their property should it become prohibited.

Don't turn this thread into one of these. C'mon guys.

This is a Tactical Imports thread. Keep it that way.

There is far too much WIN in this thread to much it up with talk of such nonsense.

So stoked over this! Been lusting over a real battle rifle for some time, the norc m14 just isn't cutting it anymore. No one dare me to per order, no one...

Can't afford it. I'm not saying it's too expensive, I'm sure these aren't cheap to build or import considering they're purpose built for Canadian shooters, but I just cannot afford it at this time.

When I can, you better believe I'll be getting a non-restricted 542 and 540, as well as a pile of mags, provided these things shoot well and feed reliably. I have few doubts that they will be functional and accurate.

Thanks for bringing these in TI, the 542 will scratch my "battle rifle that's not an M14" itch and the 540 will just be a great little carbine.

Why does Calgary shooting center claim that you have no FRT and they have bought all ERE rifles? I hope both of you have the ability to bring those rifles in. I have been waiting for .308 for a long time.

Yes, it is true there is another exclusive importer. We contacted FAMAE in July 2011 with intentions to import the SG 542. We announced our intentions to import this rifle in August 2011 on CGN.

Several months later another company saw what we were doing and decided to hop on the bandwagon before we were able to secure exclusivity. Once it was secured, it was for both companies.

So consumers will have a choice between rifles imported from ERE and TI.

Tactical Imports has a reputation for working hard to bring in new and interesting firearms. We started this company as a bunch of enthusiasts looking to bring in new things that were unavailable to sport shooters. Over the years we worked hard to build a good reputation within the community, doing everything we can to ensure all of our buyers are happy buyers. Most of our business is from repeat customers. The continued support of our company allows us to bring new things in the future.

Nobody knows anything about ERE. Is this a company looking to make a quick buck and go back to where they came from? Is this a company that takes care of its customers and any warranty work? Do profits from supporting ERE go to fund shareholders/owners pockets or to new and interesting projects?

The choice is up to you.

And this is why TI has my money.

Hopefully you'll have some more of those Hensoldt RSA-S optics to put on the new 542.

Whatever the case... I still and will forever wonder why a mass-produced semi-auto .308 is "worth" over $2k. They sure as heck don't cost that much to produce. The clothing industry has a more than 100% markup - that shirt you bought for $30 probably cost the seller $10 - what is it in guns? Sure - the dealer is entitled to a fair profit but. For $2600 or so - does the gun sing and dance? Does it put the right amount of cream in your cafe latte? My plebeian roots are showing.

X2 lets keep this clear guys no need to wheeld battle axe here guy's, this is about a new firearm in canada... this is good news.
