The Type 95 is chambered for some weird ChiComm proprietary cartridge.
The Type 97 is chambered for 5.56x45mm.
The differences in guards, grips and cosmetics are just that - cosmetics.

These are based on the original approved Non-restricted Type 97's. No modifications that may allow full auto. These are approved and good to go!!

I think the gun is fine for left handed shooters; especially those who like to collect brass. Just like the G36, you'll be able to store your brass down your shirt. I actually saw this once with a guy firing an older version of the AR10. I was amazed to see how fast hot brass can fuse to the skin.
On a more serious note, this gun is a deal and a victory for Canadian gun owners. I'm happy to finally see it available and look forward to all the reviews and tweaking in the year to come.
