MMMM... I think Canadaammo don't have the new non-restricted model......

the pre-order they have it's the old prohibited t97.....

CanAm never annunce he have the new model !!!

shnuts! I guess I will send an email and check it out....just assumed they would since they have been so involved with this firearm. Thanks for the heads up

thats a type 95 not 97

wrong, the type 95 is the original rifle built for use in the Chinese military, which is chambered for their round. this is the export model of the type 95 rechambered in 5.56/.223 named the type 97. I's like the difference between an M16a1 or a2/3/4. they just dont have the same naming conventions we in the west use. same rifle, slightly different.

Actually you are the one who is wrong here.
Lil_juiced_coupe is right (and he has a good eye for details).
The one in the pic is a Type 95. It has the rocking system for the mag latch.
Type 97 has a neck-type magwell (to accommodate the AR-15 type of mag latch).
What do you know?

Yah no kidding. My friend was raised in communist Romania and they forced him to switch from being a lefty to a righty...

I see what you did there ;D

I'm a sinister side shootist as well,unfortunately.

Wanstalls I am sorry but it's unacceptable that you posted the FRT number was approved! I took your word for it. I know people make mistakes but this is quite the oversight! This was released by the importer North Sylva today....

"OK.

I have been monitoring this forum for a few days and this is the first opportunity I've had to post as It has been a busy week.

Let's set the record straight regarding the T97NSR, I wanted the be the first to post about it, but some excited dealers beat me to it.

For well over a year now, North Sylva has been working very hard with Chinese State Arsenals to redesign the receiver on the original T97A rifle. A few prototypes were created, and after a few tries, it seemed we finally got it right.

This newly made firearm will be know as the T97NSR. It is important to note that this is NOT a T97A. It has been completely redesigned from the ground up. We are currently in the process of finalizing on the FRT number and the new sample should be approved shortly. If everything goes according to plan, these should be in stores hopefully by early spring.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Thanks,"

That clears up a lot of questions. Thanks.

Question: You say the receiver itself was modified. I was under the impression that the trigger group was the part that got the previous T97's prohibited. Is that to say that the new receiver has been made incompatible with the older trigger group (Regardless of how unavailable said trigger group is in the country...)?

Additionally, I am curious as to why you did not go with the more modern QBZ95G style controls. Do you have any plans of offering such a model in the future (If for a higher price)?

Hmmm, any input Wanstalls? There is a huge difference between an approved FRT, and a potential approved FRT. The difference could be years. I've given you a deposit in good faith, a little feedback would be nice, to clarify things.

EDIT: From CanadaAmmo- "Currently, there is no FRT# for a non-restricted T97 variant. When there is, we will have more info for you."
