Once I get the rack back from the taxidermist I will get it scored for sure.
His chest was 82 inches, measured with my fish measuring tape.

Measured around the fullest part of the chest, either you goofed, or you shot a water buffalo.
A 47 inch girth would be 310 lbs
Things to remember:
# Measure the animal just behind the front legs (girth)
# Field dressed = body cavity cleaned out (no heart, lungs, ect..)

I shot one with a 45 inch girth a few years back.
You need to really see a deer like that in person to appreciate it's size. There are some really big animals out there.

You need a new measuring tape. This one I have from Nose Stretcher Enterprises is the perfect thing for both fish and game, and comes with a fish scale and check weights. The one pound weight registers two pounds, the two pound weight registers five pounds, and so on. No angler or hunter should be without the set!!!
Unfortunately it tops out at a hundred pounds so is only designed for fresh-water fish, and not for use on deer. Doug

As I have remarked, I really have no idea how these things are scored, nor any idea of what this rack would score. Somebody has said that the Pope and Young records start at 125 (maybe higher for crossbow?), and I am pretty much certain he would beat 125. But until I get the mount back from the taxidermist I guess we won't know. Anyways, he is in "MY" record book, even if he doesn't make any others!
