Heym 7X57 Mauser (big pics)

Picked this up at the Kamloops show last weekend. The bore is prestine so should shoot well, hopefully will like 140 gr. bullets. I'll replace cheapo scope with a Leupold. Might take this "Featherweight" to Alberta this September.
Cheers

That Was Quick .. Thankyou , Guess There Is No Chance Of Finding Shells? ?

The origonal rimfire are hard to find and if you do chances are they will not fire anymore.

Drill out your bolt and convert it to center fire.;) Get a stash of 348 Win brass, cut them down and then resize in a 41 swiss LEE die and you are ready to go. It is quite easy. They are real fun to shoot.

First off I'd be checking the bore. It might look like the externals of you rifle and may not be in suitable shape to shoot.

Cool gun to find in Grampa's woodshed. My Gramma's brother used one in the early 30's too which is why I picked one up. 320gr cast pill, .430" Dia. going 1427. They are a real hoot and with only 20gr of SR4759 a pound of powder goes a long way.

Shot a Doe with it last fall and it worked quite well. Suprisingly accurate too for what they are.
