That might of looked like a 6 foot fishing pole... but I was just taking a pee...

According to the catelog I have the 33 WCF uses a 200 grain bullet at 1500 fps, I'm thinking that is a typo.

The 32-20 Hi Speed was treading on the heels of the 7.62x39, which according to the internet is almost the same as a 30-30, which is just as effective as a 300 Mag at closer ranges. So maybe the 32-20 wasn't as wimpy as people think.

"Back in the day " a firearm was looked at as more of a tool than than a piece of sporting equipment. It was a necessary piece of equipment for harvesting food and protection.
The calibers of yesteryear worked because that was what was available, and thru necessity and frequency they learned how to use them and their limitations.
Different world today; maybe not all for the better.
I have my Great Grandfather's 73 in 38-40 , I'm sure it has a few stories to tell.

I have an old model 94 Marlin in 44-40 that belonged to a relative with probably a similar history.

Really? As much as I'd love to own a .32-20 Colt SAA, I wouldn't go bear hunting with an M-1 Carbine, and the .30 Carbine outperforms the .32-20!

How about one of these? You could have an SMLE made up on this caliber, just to have bragging rights. It would be cheaper than buying an original 1886 in that caliber!

warning: opinion expressed as fact in this vid!

Ben Lily, that American icon that hunted all manner of four legged predators (he used tracking dogs) in the American SW states had exactly two rifles;
-a Winchester 30-30 as the chosen gun for cougars
-A Winchester 33 as the chosen gun for bears

As for student of the rifle, you know the 32-20 Hi Speed was for rifles only and was discontinued because the uninformed would use them in the SAA (and the Winchester 73).
