Ontario Antlerless Draw Results

Based on that we should let animals go because it does not fit your way of hunting. This is why we will never be any were. If you feel there are not enough deer / moose around to hunt perhaps you should step away and not buy a tag. There are many hunters who would never get a moose or deer steak if it was left to them as they just don't have the tools needed.

Party hunting extends my season and gives me more time in the field with my friends. Between the three of us we ar likely to fill a doe tag, so we all get some meat. No meat means no meals to share with non-hunters. It's easier to get someone onside once they've had a good meal.

So long as a tag is open in the group, we can all spend extra days out sitting and waiting (hoping) for a chance at a big buck. Many's the year that we've only seen does, but that's part of the deal. Plus, having a doe tag in the party lets us give a chance to new hunters that may only join us for a day or two to "shoot what they see". It's a great way to make a hunter for life. We've seldom filled all our tags, but we've had great times. Isn't that what it's about?

Skunked in 47 on doe tags got one the previous two years so can't really complain too much, just hope to see something this year, pretty warm last year and everything seemed to be bedded down and not moving during the first week where we were at.

got mine for WMU 13.

I don't know anyone that has NOT gotten their antlerless in 13

Yep , we just bought extras so two of us have 4 tags , the food plots are beautiful and we are deciding the hunt as there are so many deer on the trail cams . Had a contractor out on a dozer today and he had 4 different deer walk up on the dozer to check it out not noticing that he was sitting up there . He recorded a couple of minutes of vid .

If you want to share a camp with your pals, no problem. I have no issue with that at all. But when you fill your tag you should stop carrying a rifle. Every hunter fills his own tag and nobody else's, that's what I mean by no party hunting.

For moose hunting, when you could have up to 15 hunters out to fill a single tag, the odds are much higher that that tag will be filled than if you had one hunter trying to fill one tag. If you lower the success rate, it makes it possible to issue more tags.

For deer hunting, the possibility of one hunter shooting multiple deer and filling everybody else's tags never seemed right to me. Every camp seems to have a few guys that never fill a tag or even see a deer; if you want to carry on hunting go sit with them and give them some pointers.

What you just wrote there makes absolutely zero sense..... For deer camp, the same guy that sits there and doesn't see deer is going to sit there and not see deer regardless..... Deer are not scarce around here in the least..... At least by being part of the party, buddy gets a larger amount of meat than he would if everyone had to fill their own tag...... These guys don't need pointers..... They just haven't been in the right place at the right time...... If they are still hunting, doubling up scent in one location is going to worsen their odds...

As for Moose, how many people are going to spend the time and money to travel to moose camp when they don't get a tag, can't carry a rifle and don't get to participate in a hunt?

So many politics to the " party hunt" not to derail....but after years and years of people fighting over antlerless tags and " you wasted my tag on a fawn!!!!!" "But I want to bow hunt after the gun season" etc.. It huge pita unless there are well laid out rules for the group. Example: if you hunt in a group to improve success then accept that your tag may be filled by another hunter. That's the deal... Not "I'm improving my chances by filling someone else's tag" I've seen family feuds over this and lifelong friends throw punches over antlerless tags.

I have seen that in other gangs as well...... Our only rule is we fill as many tags as possible and work as a team to do so..... Whoever takes the shot is irrelevant.......

It gets down right embarrassing sometimes. My idea is when a doe goes down, if there are 10 hunters with 5 antlerless tags then the 5 tags go into a hat and the guy that killed the deer pulls the tag..... If it was mine then so be it. I agreed to hunt in the group co-operatively that is the idea to "share" equally in the group...if someone shoot 5 does I might be a little disappointed but I still have no issue handing over my tag! The only thing I "ask" is that anyone holding a doe tag that is not doing anymore hunting for the year, may we use their tag first before the guys who may have another opportunity to hunt again this season. If all the tags are needed to seal the count then that is fully understood and ok by me.

Great attitude...... It's how we function as well..... In fact, only two of the 12 in my gang other than me hunt the second week as well as the black powder season...... The guys let us cut our tags last if necessary, unless one of us has a doe tag and it's needed......

The only other rule we have is that each member must apply for a doe tag.... Anyone too lazy to purchase their license in time for the draw is out..... Also, everyone must be an Ofah member but that's bcause we lease an extra tract of land that only members are allowed to use......

I agree 100% if you're to lazy to apply for an antlerless tag then Stay home, I even go so far as to text the group to remind them of the deadline and still some guys give the lameass excuse "I forgot" it gets to be a bit much.

You know what really burns my butt is when the group takes a buck and the guys with buck tags force someone to burn an antlerless tag on a buck because they didn't pull the trigger!

the only rule we have is no fawns. my tag is usually the last one because I still hunt after the muzzleloader season if we still have a tag left. I'm usually the only one still going out after that week and if someone else in the group wants to hunt they usually wait for one of my days off so they're not alone.

Ya, that guy wouldn't be welcome at my camp......

We had one a$$hat that wood demand a neck roast every year....... We have had some lean years where we only got 2-3 deer...... And at least 6 of our guys favor neck roasts..... It's the only time we had a real argument in camp.... Lol..... Captan neck roast is now gone, he was super annoying anyways

LMAO I feel your pain Brad, it takes all kinds!!! I just wonder how it is, that every deer camp ends up with a dips*^t to "vote off the island" at the end of each season. As I said "So many politics" with Party Hunting not with the law .....just with the group!

We have been pretty lucky..... Four guys booted so far in 10 years...... Only two incidents....

One was the aforementioned Captain Neck Roast.....

The other three I booted all at once..... I bought my camp when my ex boss and friend passed away..... Nobody else could afford it or was interested in our party..... The property has two cabins on it, mine which is pretty deluxe and sleeps 3, and the camp which sleeps 8 in bunks.... Both are powered by generators and have running water.....

When I made the purchase, 3 of my friend's family members approached me asking me to subdivide the 62 acres and sell them two with the camp on it (at a retarded low price)..... I was not comfortable with that as I felt that them controlling the bunk house meant they could deny people a place to stay...... Also, our camp had two leaders, my friend who passed and his cousin (great guy)..... When I bought the camp, I took my friend's place and the three got miffed that none of them were "promoted"..... Anyways, long story short, I charge a camp membership fee of $200 a year...... It helps pay for upkeep and in return, you and your family get access to 82 acres, and the camp with running water, overlooking the lake as well as a boat and use of the generator...... Everyone gets a key and can come and go as they please....... I think it's pretty reasonable...... Great hunting and fishing right there.....

Long story short, they got so offended that I wouldn't sell and was asking $200 that they went to camp in my absence and proceeded to remove everything any of them ever contributed to........ Regardless of whether they were the sole contributors or not..... Any of the antler plaques that were there and came from one of their deer were vilentlybtorn off of the wall, damaging the wood panelling...... So ya, gate keys were changed and they are no longer welcome....... But, in the 5 years I have owned the place, it's been peaceful since....... Just needed me to step in and do a clean up.....

The only arguments I hear now happen when someone eats more than their share of bacon...... The guys take their bacon seriously...... Lol

Our group party hunts in the ml in December .The guy that shoots the deer tags the deer takes the deer. We put in the same amount of effort but do not share the meat. We are mostly tagged out most years. The ones that don't use there tag have likely missed more than one opportunity and it is usually there fault.

Our camp makes it very clear before the hunt. These are the rules (whatever they may be). Dont like em, dont hunt with us. If anyone whines after the fact then they are never invited back again. Luckily this is an exceedingly rare event.

The key to hunting in camp is being very selective with your members and being honest of the expectations up front. We have a long history approaching 60 years and the amount of actual disagreements have been almost nil. In the 20ish years I can remember (was two young before that) we've actually had none.

That is a raw deal. Sorry to hear about that. $200 a year is very reasonable.
