Bought two guns; one 10 days ago the other two days ago. Call the Ontario CFO this am to enquire about the former and asked if they would consider doing both requests at the same time. I asked if I could consult online but there is no system to do that. They offered to email me when they would approve them... And a little under ONE hour later I got a call from them to say their email system was down but they did not want to leave me in the lurch so they called to say both are approved!!! Wow thanks CFO for this exemplary level of service.:)

Are you here to blow sunshine at the CFO?

Seriously, you consider a 10 day delay and the need for a phone call to prod them into action to be quality customer service? What would you define as poor customer service?

These constantly arising delays and dismal service standards by the Ontario CFO are an unnecesary obstacle which amount to an abuse of process. This is clearly an insitutional response designed to stall approval. Out west approvals can be done in a matter of hours or less. Why the difference?

*WOW!* That's impressive. And to think that out west we only get our restricteds approved same day... (well, in Saskatchewan anyway).

:stirthepot2:

I guess when the Provincial population is equal to a city in one of our Provinces there aren't that many for them to process so they're able to make that same day turn around time... cou:

It's when they lose your transfer application (that's never happened in Ontario...) The typical 3-4 week+ transfer time that the rest of us experience is just par for the course.

You say that like a massive population of liberals and socialists is a good thing? I mean, I could point out that there are more firearms owners and restricted firearms per capita in Saskatchewan, but why let facts stand in the way of a good debate...

YMMV. I was at the CFO arranged meeting with Gun Clubs last month and this is one of the questions asked. Transfer time. In Alberta, it takes few hours the most. You can bring home your Restricted F/A same day, sometimeS within the hour. CFO's answer, Alberta's registered Restricted Licensees is way less compared to that of Ontario. I have a friend who shoot in our club here in Toronto who got his private transfer in a week. 2 other fellow shooters, private transfer in a month. Even their LATT is taking time for release.

BTW, my last purchase took less than a week. Ordered Monday noontime, I received from Canada Post Thursday afternoon. Again, YMMV. Depending on how busy (or trying to look busy) the assigned person was at the point of getting your paperwork, then start the endless wait.

I'm sure the Ontario CFO's office is larger and has more staff and a larger operating budget than some of the other provinces, too. Maybe it really comes down to priorities and allocation of resources... (or lack thereof).

I live in an apartment and I was waiting for an ATT at the beginning of this year so I could bring all my restricted firearms to my gun club.

Well, the people that send out the letters didn't print my apartment's number on the envelope and it took Canada Post a full month to put 2 and 2 together, checking out and realizing that the only apartment in the whole building who receives gun-related stuff is mine so they wrote "try this apartment" on the envelope. It then reached my mail box.

So I lost one month out of twelve to bring my restricted stuff at the range. :(

CFO Wyatt is that you ?:nest:

I just had two same day restricted transfers in Mb. Both myself and the other party had all our ducks in a row, and had faxed all our papers ahead of time to Man CFO. ShaBamo! Done and Done, called at the end of the day to check and, done , and ATT emailed to me.
