Ontario controlled hunt 2026

Unfortunately the shot I heard wasn't dad but it was in the bush beside him, which is also ours. Turns out some jack wagon was flock shooting turkey from off the road, classy. The mnr guy stopped dad on his way back to his wheeler. There was an mnr vehicle, an opp and a tow truck by buddies car when I looked through binos at lunch. That's timing for ya.

Also, how is it hotter today? I hope you fellas that drive the bush have blaze orange undies, cause I'm down to my tshirt just sitting in the stand.

It has cooled off since last night. This morning is 8 degrees Celsius and slight rain…as long as the wind does not pick up, should be a descent day.

Pushed some bush yesterday and not a thing except turkeys.

One buddy finished hunting and said he was the bad luck…lol what a bad joke on his part cause if we get something…he may have difficult time next time 😜

Went for a sit today. Had a doe at 50 yards for 10 mins, but she busted me and never gave a shot. Squirrel rut seems to be on lol
Saw a doe from my treestand yesterday, as she approached I wanted her to cross a stream so I wouldn't get wet feet getting her out. Instead she bedded in some thick stuff for 30 minutes. All I could see was her head as she kept eyeballing me and smelling the air. Finally she stood and gave me a shot. My boots are soaked from fording the stream but we won't starve this winter. One more tag to go, hopefully the cooler weather this weekend will bring a big old buck out.

Congrats, dudski 😄

Finally had a decent wind with this rain. Snuck in in the dark. Walking the corn edge. Stopped and lit a cigar because I slowly mooch in to my area. I exhale a big cloud of smoke and as it dissipates I se the silhouette of a deer. 10 mins before legal light gun in a case and there's my buck. 30 yards starring at and hes down wind. My plan would have been perfect if he wasnt 20 mins early. I back tracked him and he hit every scrap along the open field edge and down the cut path. He spent a good 3 or 4 minutes standing there watching me

Slow week so far. My buddy shot a small buck opening morning and that's only buck we have seen all week. Almost unheard of for our area. Don't hear much shooting and trail cams have zero bucks this week too.

Just ticks, they are terrible right now I find 15 on me a day at least. Last year was the first time I've ever seen one in my life

This fellah fell in an open hay field at 1:30 in the afternoon. Not pushed or chased, just walked out of hemlocks and started feeding. Shot at 250 yds with tripod and saddle with 270 and 130gr Trophy Bonded. Went 12 yards and nosedived. Double lung and exit the offside.passed on smaller deer that morning in the same field! They do visit fields other than prime time!! IMG_4357.jpeg
