Ontario IPSC Classification

That kind of sucks...

Although I must admit that I'm not really a big fan of gamesmanship or much of a trophy hound... so I don't think I'd be disappointed if I shot a level 2 and there wasn't a GM there.

If anything I think it will be tough for me just to get out to a few level 2's... I did add myself to a squad for one at EESA in sept. Even that's a 3 or so hour drive one way...

The problem being debated right now is this, as I understand it.

You could shoot a bunch of Level 2's, a level 3 and do the ICS stsges, the kicker is, if a GM and an M doesn't shoot any of the level 2's that you attend, there is no way to become classified. And there is also no way of knowing before hand, that a GM and an M is going to attend your selected level 2 matches.

That is the way I interpret it, from various conversations, I am fairly new at this as well.

yeah, I always thought the above was pretty much a load of ####> say you have a great match but because a GM didnt show your results are worthless. I was C class almost B but I think I got put in UC because I havent been out in about a year.

The only problem I see with ICS is that it can be sand bagged. There are only a couple of matches a year with ICS stages and most are only level one matches. This however can be fixed.
- All ICS stages shot are added to the Ontario system free still pay the $3 to add international system.
- All affiliated clubs must hold 4 ICS stages a year.
- Recommend that these 4 stages not all be held in the same match.
-Recommend the inclusion of one ICS stage in all the larger matches.

There would now be a minimum of 25 matches with ICS stages in a year. With the large number of matches and hopefully the use in some of the larger matches anyone hoping to sandbag would undoubtedly have to throw a stage in a match they would have hoped to place well in. Also do to the large number of stages shot it should also stop anyone from artificially inflating there classification.

Hope to see you there.

I feel your pain. My scores in level 2's over the last 18 months put me either at the top of C or the bottom of D, but I'm still unclassified. I'm hoping Rachael recalculates using the Provincials. Maybe a level 3 score will help???

The August match at Sharon has been changed to a Level I ICS Classifier consisting of 4 ICS stages. The match will run one day only (Saturday August 1st) and online registration will be enabled on Friday, July 17th at midnight.

Gentlemen:

As Quigley mentioned, there is going to be another "round" with the committee which is responsible for proposing a classification solution.. if you want to raise issues, suggestions, or if you think you have good input, then I would be more then willing to bring it forward to the committee (which I'm on.)

The ability is there to have your input heard by the committee, it's up to you to make sure your voice is heard (and NO I will not be taking general comments posted on CGN as valid input to that committee.. if you have something you want brought forward then PM/Email me or any other committee member)

S##T to bad I will be 1800km. away in Halifax. Are you going to run any other ICS matches this year.

Maybe you are shooting in the wrong division?
This year I've shoot six Level 2 and two Level 3, most, if not all were classifiers in production division. But maybe I don't have anything better to do. :)

I don't like Ontario Classification system, however I know one thing well,
I need to stop bragging about system and get my acts together and start shooting well enough. :D

well I am not shooting the NB provincials so the week before would be great for me. I could get a ICS class before the Nat's.
