Ontario IPSC Classification

Make sure you register an ICS Alias...if you haven't done so already (required for Regional and International Classifictions)
Did that within days of my BB course about 4 years ago.

You could have done that at the EESA ICS matches.
We held THREE of them this past winter (Jan, Feb, Mar)

Being 3h+ from any IPSC clubs in the summer. I switch for IPSC to the local bullseye league for the winter. Must have missed seeing the March match.

Bryan, You're laking about the Lewis system, PPC uses it.
A stage based system can work if there is enough of the proper data put in. One would assume that by having the Usual Suspects(MikeB, Wade, Alex, MikeA...) shoot the stages, that you would come up with a a proper high hit-factor. It would be a good start point but a more accurate one would be had by using shooters from all across canada. The USPSA HHF factors are not all held by the Pros.
A stage based National system is the way to go, anything else will fall like the other attempts.

Yes, thank you.

Why not use the Lewis system for individual matches;

Match Winner

A 1st 2nd 3rd

B etc., etc.

C

D

Lady

Senior

Super Senior :D

The class awards for each match are taken from the Match Winner. Note there is no Master or Grand Master, one would assume if a M or GM attended a local match they would be the Match Winner. If not, they are awarded where they placed, A, B, C or D.

Annually, all the sanctioned matches each member has shot are computed for the province and awards/recognition are distributed;

Grand Master

Master

A

B

C

D

et.c etc.

This would give regular competitors a nominal classification, perhaps in addition to 'classifier' stages shot through the year, and would be used for the member to shoot another provinces provincials etc.

This nominal classification would not be used at the local level, that would be the Lewis system.

Depending on who shows up to shoot the local match, this would give lower ranked shooters in each class a chance at awards and would eliminate sandbagging. If 'Billy-Bob' B shooter takes PH's advanced shooting course ,catches fire and wins matches, everone that was below him immediately moves up, the Ms or As move down one notch for that match. This can be a humbling experience, don't ask how I know this.

I believe that would simplify scoring and awards at the local level and generate more interest, eliminate sandbagging if that is a concern, while being more fair and equitable in handing out awards.

That said, whatever system you decide upon is fine with me.

IMHO

Finally something I can get behind and invest money in attending... I stopped travelling to Ontario Matches because of the last classification system... why travel to only find out that the GM or M had a bad day and it didn't count... (yes I know it's about the fun and social aspect of the Sport but those who think they are competitive want to spend their money constructively especially when each match could hit the $200.00 mark depending on distance and match fees..).
This system also helps out those club way up north who can now get their members classified without having to fly down to central Ontario and be able to get recognized in their division at the Provincial Championship if they choose to attend... kudo's to the comittee and board to finally fixing the situation and hopefully recognize any flaws that may present itself and adress those in a timely fashion...

oh BTW with this system I can finally finish getting classed in modified... YIPEEE

The August match at Sharon has been changed to a Level I ICS Classifier consisting of 4 ICS stages. The match will run one day only (Saturday August 1st) and online registration will be enabled on Friday, July 17th at midnight.

Dom

Due to an overwhelming number of requests to postpone this match until after the Nationals, it has been re-scheduled to Saturday, August 15th.
