Ontario Turkey hunting. Anyone getting exicited yet?

All you new turkey hunters go out Sunday night and scare the birds of the roost that will help you get a bird!!!

Does this disorient them, causing them to call more the next morning? or is this a joke?

I'm pretty new at turkey hunting, so far I've only done it the "wrong" way (spot & stalk).

That is a joke, scout from the road with binoculars, you can narrow down were they are roosting in the morning in the dark. They stand out like jumbo jets in the trees this time of year.I see the new hunters bumping them out of there roost trees by walking around the night before opening morning and then cant figure out were they went!

just got back from my last round of scouting/brushing up the blind. lots of birds around, it's Tom's or nothing tomorrow morning.

This sucks, I am waiting on a guy to get back to me for permission to hunt his land (a family friend). It looks like I may not be heading out tomorrow, but tuesday or wednesday :( (although that's irrelevant since I would be the only one hunting his land...nevertheless, I want to be out there!)

Also, made this guy this week, and I want to try it out:

Home made slate call. I still have to finish up a striker for it today :p

Not saying its the prettiest thing, but it sounds right and I made it! lol

Almost hit 2 turkeys on the road today, they were just begging to die. Last minute preparations are done. Alarm is set for the morning, gear is ready, time to get some rest. Hope to hear some gobbling in the morning and fill a tag before noon. At least that's the hope :)

Gun patterned, gear preped and sitting by front door. spots scouted from road and birds located. Alarm clock and cellphone set for wake up time. Just hope i can sleep tonight. good luck to all you turkey hunters... shoot strait.

I'm going to wait a couple of days as I got a new Grandson tonight!!!! As much as I love turkey hunting I'm going to enjoy the new arrival. If I am lucky enough I'll live long enough to take him bird hunting when he is ready :)

Hey congrats!! I am also not going to be participating in opening day...My wife has decided that we are in the early stages of labor and apparently I need to stay home.

Good luck out there guys!!

Not going hunting this morning after all. last minute call to work.

Yesterday, drove all the way to Algonquian Park (where I am intending to hunt) and back. Stopping frequently to scout for Turkeys. Non spotted or heard North of Peterborough, but plenty when you go south of Peterborough. looks like that is their natural northern boundary.

Interesting observation, but I wouldn't think that to be true... My friend has land touching Algonquin park and he has turkeys on his land... (I should be able to go there this week :D )

I have seen huge flocks near Cobden etc. These areas are all WAY north of Peterborough....

had my daughter with me this morning(41/2) and she lasted 30 mins before she got cold and wanted to come home..... we watched a doe cross the field about 100 yards away and had some toms answering my calls 2 fields over but she was too cold and we came home. she says she wants to go back out and she'll dress warmer. so i'll take her back on sat. didn't want to push it and turn her off hunting. my wife thought i'd get mad if my daughter didn't want to stay or if she was too loud but i really don't care if i ever take home a bird or deer as long as she enjoys her outing. i've shot enough deer and turkey's, can't wait until my 2 kids can actually hunt......
