Just home from the clinic. There were 4 of us, including one walk-on who learned about the event through his club's announcements mailing list.
We found there were no two rifles alike. Each one had its own subtle variations - flash suppressor webs, front muzzle hole, spot welds or not, loose operating rod guides, barrel set screw or not, blued or parkerized finish, one or two scope base grooves on the receiver, solid or loose back sights, various op rod hump configurations, stocks, etc, etc.
Most of the rifles weren't bad for disassembly, but one needed some extra hands to undo a very tight gas plug and another refused to give up its spot welds. I watched two guys and a portable drill press eat through half-a-dozen drill bits and still not get through the welds. It needs a small end mill to bite into that hard welding.
All together a good exchange of ideas, including many things I'd never heard.
