PAL "in progress"

RPAL/PAL Application mailed Dec 27, 2008
CFC Received Application Jan 5, 2009
Telephone Interview Jan 29, 2009
One reference confirmed and awaited the second to call back
and then.....

YAY! Mine finally went through. As far as I know my references were never called. Sent december 2nd, received december 9th, and issued jan 29th. I had a couple police incidents (posession of mary jane) and one of the boxes checked off for work. When the CFO called me back on monday they said they were just waiting for the police reports to come back. Must have been issued today or yesterday. Despite what people here say about the people at the CFC and CFO, they were very helpful and courteous to me.

License approved and mailed Feb 1, 2009

I must admit, I'm quite surprise how quick the process was...actually right on the 28 days.

Received Dec 12th, still waiting... but it's because they telephoned interviewed and at least one of my references didn't answer so they have to mail surveys for them out.
And because my references moved, their parents will have to forward the mail to them.

All time consuming.

There is the 28 day wait period. so wait those 28 days and then phone the cfc and ask to speak to the cheif firearms officer in your province and they should approve it right on the phone. They get put in a pile and forgot about. When you phone them it will get them moving. Good luck

Day 50. Still no RPAL. Call firearms center. they don't know why its so late ,told me to call back in a couple of weeks. No References called yet....Gun getting dusty...

BTW, no criminal history, clean record, had FAC in the past....

the CFO told me to call them back on the 46th day, it's a MINIMUM of 28 days waiting with a supposed maximum of 45.

From what I understand The processing time is usually 45 days. that includes the 28 day. so 45 days total. Either way....too bloody long if you ask me.

I had called them friday after 30 days they did the phone interview on the spot and told me to tell my references to call in... my one buddy called today and my other will call tmrw I wonder how long it will take me to get it in the mail

i'm in Windsor Ontario I musta caught the lady in a good mood she was very nice to me and joyfully wished me a good weekend, my references even said the people they spoke to were very pleasant... anyways my 2nd reference called today and i just checked the website, my license has been issued and my card is on it's way:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Now i will be checking the mail everyday until it gets here

Well finally got my licence, exactly two weeks after they issued it. So I'm happy. The picture isn't great, in that it's cropped from the picture I gave them, and it's way darker than the original for some reason. It's also slanted like 10 degrees for some reason so it looks like I'm leaning on a side for some reason... meh....

mine was recieved on oct 31.

called cfo on jan 26 and she said they just needed to do a background check and then send it off.

called cfo on feb 3rd and she said it was currently being reviewed by an rcmp and was in his queue, and counldnt give me an ETA. I 'think' i am making progress....

I applied for my PAL in June, and didnt receive it until late october 2008. hopefully, I can teach you off of my mistakes. After the CFC checks your references, they send the application to the Chief Firearms Officer of the province. What I found was that after a couple months of wondering, I called the CFO of ontario who then told me "oh, yeah, its sitting right here in a pile, let me get on that" and within a week and half I had my rest. + non-resricted. So contact the CFC after they check your references, theyll tell you it has been sent to the CFO of your province for final approval, at which point just get on them over the phone and you should get on it quicker. I had a friend who did the course with me at the same time, sent the application in at the same time, included each other as references, who said he wasnt worried about the process. He didnt get his until late last decemeber! almost 7 months door - to - door. I had my liscense before they checked his references. So haggle the CFC to get on your references, and then haggle the CFO to complete it. GOOD LUCK, Youll need it.

yes thats what i realized. When i first called my cfo, it seemed like it was just sitting there in the pile and she would get the ball rolling that day...
