PAL "in progress"

well, I took the suggestion of being proactive and calling.

Sent my App for both PAL and RPAL in on 07 May, system said they received it 11 May (although it only updated that info on 03 June).

I called and did my interview this morning. Both refs are calling today.

have a VZ58 waiting for me.

That worked. both refs called today. My app has now been sent off to the CFO for final approval.

Now is there a way to speed that up as well.

I only knew when they received my application ...

When I call them they tell me they have no way to know if they got my app or not until it is entered into the system because they have so many. Obviously this is bulls**t. What are you all saying to them to get them to physically look for the app to see if it arrived? What should I ask when I call? And which number should I be calling? I've been calling 1 800 731-4000
... because I'd sent it by registered mail, and checked with Canada Post.

The guy didn't check to see if they had it. He took my information, tapped a few keys on his computer - it was probably the online service he was checking  which I had already told him my info. didn't show up on - and said he didn't have anything.

All he could tell me was that, since I had confirmation of receipt from CP, processing of my application must be in progress, but he did not have any way of actually verifying that.

2 weeks minimum. As I said it took 3 weeks for mine to show up, and its still sitting there as "in progress". I'm gonna call tomorrow and see if I can do my interview.

Marked received May 15th, 09

My RPAL was mailed on the 13th, and is now posted online as being received on May 15th, initial process complete, and status is "in progress" I filled out the info to charge to my credit card, and noticed that they charged me as of last thursday (June 4th).... So I figure at this point, I am good to go, and just have to wait the min. 28 days...no reference or wifey received a phonecall.... Hopefully I'll be shooting by July.

I just noticed my credit card has been charged as well, also didn't receive a phone call, my references either, so maybe I won't call after all. If they didn't want an interview I'm not going to volunteer one!

Is it true that once your credit card has been charged the licence is as good as issued?

Some pages ago, someone said you won't get your $$$ back if you get rejected.

The reply sounded logical. It's part of the processing cost. Makes sense.

But not to worry... Go to their stats page. Very few get rejected anyway. Only prob is how long do we have to really wait? Some get theirs fast, some takes 6+ months with no apparent issues.

I'm approaching 45 days now. Got my interview done last week including both my references. Website status has not changed though. :-(

Mine was just issued. I believe that calling and doing my interview plus having my refs call actually sped up the process.

"Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number".

Application Received on: 2009/05/13

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued.

Great!

Did you apply for PAL/RPAL?

When did you and your references get called? Mine was done 7 days ago. My status hasn't changed yet. Application was recieved on 2009/05/14.

yeah.. Get it before it gets too hard or our gov't is going to decide to stop issuing RPAL forever and if that happens, don't forget to renew RPAL either. LOL!

(RPAL is a term that doesn't technically exist, it's restricted PAL).

No word technically exists until it is used for the first and then subsequent times. This is why CNN reported that the English language now has 1 million words in use. If we didn't use new ones then we would still be at "Me Tarzan, you Jane".
