PAL "in progress"

Well the good thing is once you have it and you need to renew (in 5 years) the renewal takes no time... From the day I sent it in to when I had my new pal was a total of 2 weeks. Not bad I thought.
 
well, once the form gets back to me with my references signature on it (moving to a new area sucks >.<), I can send my app in. I hope I'm not one of the few month unlucky ones :(

trouble is, the letter requesting more information was only sent out yesterday :(
 
Both my wife's and my RPALS expire at roughly the same time so we send them in at the same time (seperate envelopes). Keep in mind we are renewing, not applying for the first time. Every time we renew (every 5 years), mine comes back quick, within a month and her's takes forever. This year we had to renew again so we mailed the renewals in early March. I had mine within a month, my wife's just arrived last week !!! Her's took almost 5 months!!
 
I talked to the CFC today when they called me regarding a fax that I sent to them inquiring about the status of my application. The lady I talked to said they are at least two weeks behind and a just starting to process apps. they received at the beginning of August. She said lot's of ppl. on holidays this time of year and lot's of applications to process b/c of hunting season coming up has put them behind. Very pleasant lady to talk to even though her answer was 'hurry up and wait". Oh well.

Just call them.

I got the same message when I did mine. I called in and was told my credit card wasn't authorized (hups, over the limit). I gave them a new CC number, the lady authorized it on the spot and my status changed to "is being processed" right away.

Around a week later I got the letter stating that my CC didn't pass, etc...
 
How long does it take after they call your references and myself ? They called my references a few days ago, cashed the cheque and called me.

mine says Application Received on: 2009/07/30


Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date

THIS WAIT is KILLLING ME !

Is PAL processing a provincial thing? Lots of people reporting around 1 month turnaround recently. Mine was just issued 2 days ago, so that's a bit over a month, and it was "processing" for about 2 weeks.
 
I'd say it's shared between prov and fed. Once it is sent from the CFC (the ones who do the interviews and a bit of paperwork) to the provincial CFO for approval it becomes a provincial 'thing'
 
on thewebsite it says that an average appication will take 45 days to be complete. Now is this 45 days from the time they receive the application or is it 45 business days - ruling out the weekends?

Checked the CFC website today and my status has been upgraded from "no info" to in progress or some such thing. Say's they rec'd my application on Aug.11 , so it looks like they are indeed working with almost exactly a 2 week backlog. Still I'm glad to see that they did receive it as I just sent it regular mail and was getting a little worried that it didn't make it at all.
 
so the status on my pal rpal is they recieved it on the 30th of july, it said on the site my app was recieved and in progress. Then on the 18th my references and my self were called. On the 19th it said on the site that the initial prosses was complete and it was not in progress or something like that. I called in on the 24th and the lady told me it was sent out to the CFO for final approval. So my question is can i call there and ask how the status is ? It seems everytime i call in progress is made the next day.
 
^^ Sometimes calling in makes them move their ass, but if it's your first PAL, there is a mandatory 28 days waiting period, after that you're pretty much going to get it in the mail after you call them. Usually it takes from 28 days to a year, so... nahh it just takes 40-45 days usually. ;)

but is it 45 calendar days or 45 business days?
