PAL Wait Time

You can't take your guns to range until you receive the proper paperwork via mail. It may take a couple weeks before the RCMP letters arrives........I hope sooner.

Yeah I know. It's such a slow process!! Ugh. When I lived in Florida it was so easy! I'm stuck shooting my non restricted rifles until all the paperwork is done.

March 4 & 5 2017 completed PAL/RPAL courses

March 29 2017 Paperwork received in mail, mailed out same day

May 5 2017 Cheque withdrawn from account, and application visible online.

I am 41 days left in my work trip. I'm hoping I'm home a few days before it arrives, and it comes during my time off I will be getting for working away from home for 84 days straight.

79 days and counting don't understand how some people can have there's approved and recieved in around fifty days but mine hasn't even shown anything passed my initial processing is complete and that was back around the first week of April have called and was told it's still in final approval stage have written mp about this as well but haven't heard anything back and likely won't

When I did mine it took roughly 6 months and that was 4 years ago or so

Im on 132 days and counting. There's only so much you can do and they'll keep telling you that until they need something else, but they won't inform you if they do so just keep calling once a week or once a month like I'm doing and be polite and courteous. You'll get it eventually, but the waiting part sucks.

They sent me a letter saying I missed the bubble for, "Have you had another conjugal partner in the last two years other than the one indicated?" Same answer I give my wife. *blank stare*
I called and sorted it out over the phone. My application is now showing up online. It was stamped April 3.

This thread depresses me. I sent my application on the 18th of April from BC (ETA to RCMP 25 April). I was hoping for a PAL by June...but it's looking like it may be July/August.../December. Still no payment taken, or update on my status online.

I have money burning a hole in my pocket!

Likely wont see a charge or it online until the end of May. Mine was delivered end of March and no charge or online status until 2 weeks ago. Called in to verify my info all good just waiting on my references to get called and hopefully it wont take all summer cause that's a lot of time not shooting!

I agree with the sentiments of swordth. My timelines are as follows;

March 12, weekend of, PAL & RPAL course passed
March 29, Application sent
April 4, Application received at CFC
May 4, Application showed up online
May 5, Course results faxed
May 8, Reference#1 called in and told file not ready for interview
May 10, Cheque cashed
May 11, Reference #2 called in and completed interview
May 12, I called CFC to check status and was told file sent to CFO for review

What does the CFO review for an Ontario resident?

I am not optismitic of the CFO timelines for Ontario as it currently takes them 2-3 weeks for a transfer.

Just be patient. Its comming.. Just make sure your references pickup the phone or callback.

Few years ago when i applied.:

I called in to check my application since i hadn't recieved it. They told me it was approved over the phone and that I'll recieve my card in a week

You cant really do anything with being approved. You need the card to make purchases and find out what the pal# is.

What do you mean "was just approved over the phone" ?

Any information on who you called/talked to?
Was it the CFO for Ontario (I'm going by your username 613perth)?
Was it the firearms program contact centre in Miramichi?

No it was the cfo of Ontario Ottawa region when I spoke with him he said that was approved after speaking of my criminal history which was over six years ago now and that I can expect to receive it in the mail with in two weeks

So time line as follows
Mailed out around feb18
Showed up online March 24
Completed initial processing about April 7
Status changed to approved and that I should recieved it with in two weeks may 15

No I called him had Called the 7314000 number and was given the Ontario area number then given my regional officers number talked to him he said he wanted to review my file and past criminal history ( a couple of arrests being young and dumb and has been well over five or six years since any police contact) and that he would call me once he did the next business day he called me explained he reviewed my files and he didn't see any problem giving me my pal and Said I was good to go and congratulated me then about an hour or so later my status changed online to my license has been issued
