Parker hale m82-m87-C3-C3A1 Rifles

[Well this is her so far.
Original
C3A1 stock
Trigger group
magazine and internals

Not original
Receiver/PH 200 series
Barrel Montana 26 in. C3A1 contour as close as possible
Near rail
USOptics SN-3-3x17x44

Rifle was bedded as Carl had instructed every screw torqued to specs. Rifle weighed in at 17.5 lbs with scope and rail.
I had a chance yesterday to sight her in at 100-500 yards. The load was an old one that shot true 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds with my Tikka tactical and sometimes down to .3s 168gr. combined technology Noslers, Lapua brasswith 44.5 grains Varget.
This load in the C3A1 clone went.
1st round 2" right Centre Rifle is cleaned after every round untill 10
2nd centre centre
3rd centre 1/2 R
4th centre 1/4 L

1st 3 shot group .75

I shot 3 shot groups none where more than .9s at 100 yds most held the .7 groups all rounds where clean barrel. groups held less than 1 MOA all the way out to 500 yds.
On the USO-SN3 the tracking was absolutly the best I have seen so far[I hate to say it but better than my MK4 and i like the MK4 a lot] The 1/10th mil clicks are great for fine tuning. The scope was easy to adjust onto target and worked the box as well as any scope I have used.
The rifle recoils strait back with no muzzle jump and is a pleasure to shoot. I will try a few new loads in her to see if i can tighten her up. I will not be overly disapointed if she does not. I am getting mostly a left right dispersal on shots and that is not the rifle i believe that can in my oppinion be attributed to my hold and pressure on the rifle.
All in all a good first outing and 30 rounds written in the book.
regards Tim

Close enough! Get the PH bipod and a sling and you're all set.

Carl, who made the slings? Are they still available?

The original slings used were the custom made ones we had for the C3.

We then went to the old C1A1 green canvas slings - easily obtained.

We now use the Tactical Intervention Specialists Quick Cuff slings in OD green(on the C14 Timberwolf).

Cheers, Carl

Nice looking! Congrats on the build!

Good on ya for going the distance with it.

Glad to have helped you out in any way.

Carl: Thank you your expertise is invaluable I would like to know what type of sling swivels where used. I have a set of PHs that swivel both fore and aft as well as around.
Regards Tim

The 1.25" is used on the rear underneath the stock.

The front is the same, but a quick detachable on the bottom of the PH handstop bolt. It comes with the handstop.

Personally, the rear should be converted to a flushcup, so that you can use 2 quick detachable sling loops - like the USMC use on the M40A3.

Cheers, Carl

Let's keep it authentic, eh!

Authentic?:p:D;)

How is it authentic when it doesn't work properly. Some engineer probably designed the sling system on the rifle, not thinking of an end user's requirements.

Why have a front sling loop on a rifle that is quick detachable and a rear loop that needs to have the sling unstrung, to get it off the rifle:confused:.

It's not like D1 has a real C3A1 and can't modify it due to it being DND equipment and can't modify it.

I'm only offering a suggestion for ease of use - which had I still been in, would have brought it forward to the LCMM for possible modification/suggestion award system in the EME branch.

For jumpiny sakes, the C14 Timberwolf employs the very flush cups I speak of.

All in good fun now, so please don't get bent outta shape:p:D;)!

Cheers, Carl

I may have found a C1A1 sling for her. No luck yet in finding a C3 sling which i would prefer. I have not found a PH bipod and handstop with spigot yet either. So on goes the search.
Regards Tim

Tim,

If you need the C1 sling, I have a spare you can have.

PM me your info and it's yours dude!

 Didn't I send you a PM about this about a month ago for a place that sells them new???

Haha I know the cups you speak of, my rifle has the same... I think the point of having one QD and one loop is so that you don't lose the sling. Whenever you want to take it off, just detach from handstop and tuck away. My rifle can be set up this way, since it comes with a single loop that you can attach to the Anschutz rail whereas the other attach points are all QD cups...

:onCrack: "I reject your reality and substitute my own." :D

Carl:
It will be a pleasure to take you up on your offer. You have an incoming.
I agree on it's a clone not original DND equiptment. I like to shoot from the bench every now and then. The removal from the rear swivel would be a pita and wasted time. At my age wasted time is not something I need :D

Delta1...what do you have for a stock rail to mount the hand stop?

Does any body know if the feet on the bipod are smooth or have a small hump in them like the ones shown on the Norman Clark website? Type 1 or 2?

Great job!

Ron

Seems to me if my memory does'nt fail me the foot on the Parker hail for the C3A1 had an angle on the plate.
I could be wrong though.

Guys,

The very early bipods that we had had no ridge/hump on the bottom. The remainder of the contract bipods came with the ridge/hump.

The current AI rubber feet will slip over either for a non skid surface on concrete/bench.

PS: RGG7 - haven't forgot about you either - just found the bloody thing about 2 days ago, after reminishing down memory lane for it's whereabouts. Just gotta snap some pics.

Cheers, Carl

Thanks Carl......no doubt that you would come through on this.....Ron

Delta1 ...I will send you a PM on the bipod.
