Parker hale m82-m87-C3-C3A1 Rifles

Wayne's 1200TX Pic's

Here's Wayne's photo's of his rifle.

I'll add here before anyone else comment's - this is not a C3 or a complete 1200TX persay.

Somebody along the way has fitted in an M87 bolt. Other than that, nice example of the rifle. Shame the original bolt wasn't with it.

Thanks Wayne for sharing them!

Here they are:

lol, we're gonna need more than that... At least one side shot, and maybe a closeup of how the handstop is installed, etc. Very nice find, nonetheless.

Wait, I thought you didn't have the scope... If I'm not mistaken, that is a ZF-69. no? Also, is that an entire M87 bolt or just bolt handle? I'm surprized that they'd be interchangeable. What about the scope mount, is it spec (might have already asked a while back lol)?

I take it the CF scrapped that little bipod we see in the pic, right Carl?

Bolt handle.yes, the wrong one. 1200TX handle won't do either. They slope back and have a flat top on the knob. Correct C3 bolt handle slopes forward and has knob with flat bottom. Anyone have a good printed copy of the various C3 CFTOs?

Thanks,

Wayne

That is a ZF69 scope. The entire bolt is an M87/C3A1 - if it's as Wayne said previously, some wpns tech decided to play around with replacing the bolt with a C3A1 spare.

I'd say that the rifle is about 95% complete, being that the bolt is wrong. That extra scope mount is for the AN/PVS 501 night scope. Other than the bolt, it's a really nice example of the rifle.

The bipod is some civilian contraption - not military issue.

Cheers, Carl

ZF 69 scope. Right did not have on as yet, untill I found this one with a rifle stuck to it. The little bipod is not part of the C3 kit. I t is simply a target shooting aid. Keeps the rifle out of the dirt between shots. It can be bolted into the PH type of rail or slid onto the Anschutz style of rail. two types, one is an Anschutz part other is a parker copy. Paul Reibin sells a spring loaded version that is also a handstop. See lots of them at the range.

Hi Guys and girls ,
The name is Ray and i reside in the UK and have been loggin in and out for a while and have been really enjoying your site!!!;)
Hope you do not mind that i thought it was about time i posted!!!
I have been reading this thread about Parker Hales with interest;) , i purchased a Parker Hale TX1200 last November and have been using it for a bit of target shooting but its main role has been for Deer and mostly longrange varmint shooting!!!
Heres some photos of her.............

All the best from England...............

Ray,

My goodness that is a heavy barrel. Don't think I've ever seen one on a mauser like that.

Looks good though! Congrats on a nice rig.

Welcome to CGN!

All the best, Carl

Nice Geovids ;)

I've never seen a barrel like that, or a more recessed crown... You've got to tell us more about it!

Thanks for the replies!!!!;);)
Just a little insight how i came about buying her!!!
I shoot regularly with a good bunch of friends , one such chap is Jamie and he owns 2 Parker Hales , 1 M83 and a TX1200 , i have been fortunate to shoot these rifles all the way out to a 1000yds and have had some great success on varmints too!!!
He kept on saying about buying one , when last November i gave in and bought this very TX1200 which he sourced for me!!! ( thanks bud )
As you can see it has a big fat tube on it!!! , its a standard target profile but what you see over it , is a alloy barrel shroud!!!
I understand that not many of these were made by Parker Hale!!!!
When she arrived we gave her a good clean and we had already made up some ammo consisting of fully prepped brass ( no neck turn ) and Jamies favourite load ( which seems to work in them all ) CCI benchrest primers / 44 grains of Varget and a 155 A-max at SAMMI spec!!!
From the word go she was shooting sub half inch 5 shot groups , so not too bad!!!
Heres some groups from her.......................

And in a no wind condition and on a very calm day when testing..............
DSCF3417.jpg

Now there are 5 Target model Parker Hales being shot between us , 3 TX1200s / a M83 and a M84 and all shoot as well as mine!!!:):)
I am so glad i bought her now and on a recent varmint hunting trip i shot bunnies at 296 / 517 / 518 / 667yds / and had a double crow at 498yds!!!
Had a few 500yd one shot hits now with this rifle , and it makes me smile so much when i use it!!!!
Hope you don't mind but a picture from that very hunt!!!...............

Interesting Parker Hale that UKVarminter posted. Very impressive shooting.

Ray...could you tell us a little more about the rifle? It appears to be single shot? Is the action relieved for a magazine or solid? What is the barrel length? Is the aluminum sleeve removable? How is it fastened to the barrel. I see it fills the barrel channel of the stock so its got to be 1.25" in diameter?

Are the any markings on the rifle to indicate make, year of manufacture?

Have not seen one in Canada? Anyone else?

It almost looks like an integral suppressor...they are legal in England no?

As mentioned its a barrel shroud not a full length moderator!!
Yes moderators are legal in England too!!!

You are right that the tube is 1.25" in diameter too!!!!;)
The rifle is a single shot and all it has it a single shot magazine follower!!!
It has been bedded from factory too!!!
I have taken some closeup photos so you can have a closer look!!!

Thanks for posting you rifle info. It is a very interesting gun.

The first proof I've run into where the barrel/action is stamped both "BNP" and "SP". "BNP" is the normal proof. The "SP" is most intriguing....indicates special manufacture. I like to know if the barrel sleeve or shroud is removable and if the barrel itself is marked or proofed? I believe the purpose of the shroud is to fully support or bed the barrel and might be epoxied into place. Very good accuracy when done. I've seen many TX's fully bedded rather than floating as done at the factory.

Couple other observations...stock is stained beech...very similar to the Canadian C3 sniper. You serial number predates the the C3 by just a couple thousand rifles. C3 start around R-22700. Bolt handle is the correct sweep for the C3 as well however full round and not flat on the underside like the C3.

Fine gun!!!!
Enjoy the holiday...I'm off fishing in a couple of weeks.

Ron
