Parker hale m82-m87-C3-C3A1 Rifles

Now those are what I call descriptive pics... So the only thing "wrong" with this example is th ebolt, right? Everything is spec, aside from that?

What kind accuracy was standard fr this model? MOA? ½MOA? Less ???

1/2 MOT - minute of torso - LOL:D

These rifles are good shooters, but I never used handloads in an army rifle. Who do you think we are the USMC - hehehe:p:D

I used to own one - was a tack driver with the right ammo and handloads.

Cheers, Carl

I dont know how i missed this thread before but i have a question regarding a Parker-Hale that my girlfriends dad has stashed away in his closet. The rifle is still new in the box. I believe it is a 303 and the numbers on it are as follows.

1942 v11301

#4 mk1/2(f)ftr

any help would be great. thanks!

Matt

Matt,

This is the wrong place to be asking about that. Please ask your question in the milsurp forum.

This thread is for a very specific rifle.

All the best, Carl

Haha, very funny :p

Yes, I recall you saying how, even with your new rifle, that military specs for sniper rifle groupings are often "unimpressive" for a target shooter... That having been said, how good a tack driver was that C3, and how old was it when you got it (in terms of rounds fired)?

Is (soon I'll be saying "was" :() the A1 any better, accuracy-wise?

Leatherwood never supplied to the C3 or C3A1 program. However if you're going to build a clone select a scope that you are comfortable with. Finding a ZF69 will be tough and expensive. Leatherwoods are out there and available from some USA sites like eBay, SniperHides and so on. I'd go with fixed power however most applications for Leatherwood snipers were variable.

The C3 used just a padded handstop where as the C3A1 used a dense black nylon handstop and removable bipod. I've seen clones built either way. If I was using the removable mag system I'd go with the bipod. Parts are getting difficult to find.

This thread discusses both the C3 and the C3A1. Some discussion on the 1200TX and of course clones. All are very worthwhile projects.

If you need any more info pls PM.

Rob,

Some notes:
- The handstop used on the C3 is not the same as the C3A1... The latter has a spigot for the bipod and is made of some plastic, whereas the one you need for the C3 is metallic with a neoprene like band where your hand would go
- The C3 is based off of a M82 action, which has slight differences from the 1200TX and I believe the serial number is a telltale sign

Just to freshen up things, what has everybody been doing in regards to their clone builds?

I unfortunately am still waiting for surgery on my back - been rescheduled again for late Nov.

Hope everybody in this small community is keeping well.

All the best, Carl

Great looking project Rob. Are you using a scope? If so what options are you considering. See a few minor things misssing from your pic like mag well liner, firing pin, spring, etc. Do you have those? Keep us posted.
