The Spex break, was a design that Supptin, and others worked on, completed, tested, and perfected under the auspice and employ of Alberta Tactical Rifle. So its their intellectual property.
The SPEX development units were made by me in my shop. These were a two part unit that threaded together so we could swap out the internal cones. They had nothing to do with ATRS. Thus the intellectual property belongs to me.
When it came time to manufacture them in quantity, we paid ATRS to do a portion of the work. We paid several other shops to do other portions of the work as well. The problem with farming the work out to a variety of shops is that made the entire thing very expensive to produce.
We are currently in discussion with a CDN manufacturer to bring the SPEX back to the marketplace. The plan is to have it all made by one company which should greatly cut down on the manufacturing cost.

Wheather this latest version shown in the pictures above is an inidcation that the "Spex" project has been taken off the shelf, or something again all together different is only a question that ATR can answer.
They don't own the SPEX so it is not up to them how and when it gets built and sold. They can try to copy the design but it will always just be a copy.
