So my new Savage 10 is going to be about 16lbs all said and done and I am thinking the $35 CT case is probably not a good way to go.. Where is the best place to buy a Pelican 1750 as that seems to be about the right size? Best price I've found in Calgary is $269..ouch..

I got mine from Bass Pro, I think it was a little cheaper than that but not by much. Pelicans are great cases, worth the money in my mind.

$269 is a STEAL on a 1750.

When I bought mine, they were in the $300 range.

Acklands-Grainger is a good place to get 'em if you don't mind a wait while they bring it in from the warehouse.

Mine also houses a Savage 10FCP with an HS Precision stock and a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T... and does a nice job of it. Heavy as balls, but the case has wheels for the longer hauls. :)

Trust me...you do not want a pelican case with that rifle!!!
My 10 BAT/S-K weighs about the same, and the pelican case is freaking heavy as well...go with a soft bag that has the shoulder harness..mine is made by eagle industries and it is awesome...

The 1750 is listed at 25 lbs with foam, but given it's size and strength I wouldn't say that it's weight is not a major issue. I've had 3 rifles, a shotgun and 3 pistols in my 1750 all at the same time; now that was heavy. :D

spent $1700 on rifle and ouching about $270 for the case? where is the logic?? :)

try BassPro - they have very good price on Pelican cases......

but its going to sit in the back of my pick up most times and its a gravel bumpy road to the range. Soft case will destroy it I think...

Optimal Cases and Lights in Calgary was the best deal I could find. I bought my 1700 from them this summer. I bought my 1750 direct from Pelican with promo pricing some years ago. They're outstanding cases and worth the money.

This is true... the combo is hella-heavy.

I bought a Browning soft-bag for just taking the rig back-and-forth to the range, but when traveling long distances over crappy terrain (e.g. hunting season) the Pelican is king.

Just called, they have the Red Head ones that are Pelican built for $249 and thats it. Probably would rather pay the extra $20 for it to say pelican on it. That and the gas from other end of town would cost $10 lol.

Pelican Cases --Free shipping

I have used Optimal of Calgary for my last two Pelican cases. 1750's with foam ran around $270 including shipping by courier. Living in northern Alberta the slowest delivery was 3 days the best was one day . Get your order in befro 10:00 and they seem to ship out around noon each day.
When you consider the shipping costs are included ,its hard to bet their prices.
It paid to google --Pelican Cases Calgary...
