I'm assuming the case is not subject to duty, which may or may not be valid. So Optimal appears to be 25% more expensive for the exact same case.
well you know what they say about assuming. Anything over $100 is going to be taxed.
Secondly, Optimal is a 10 min drive for me so the $80 ship charge is irrelevant for me.
Please note that I have included the 13% HST that we pay in this more civilized part of Canada. The only question was whether there is duty owing, and I've since found that these cases are made in the USA so there is none.
Good for you. You're certainly better off getting it from Optimal then.
So my new Savage 10 is going to be about 16lbs all said and done and I am thinking the $35 CT case is probably not a good way to go.. Where is the best place to buy a Pelican 1750 as that seems to be about the right size? Best price I've found in Calgary is $269..ouch..
Free shipping TO the US? I assume you live in the US.
and you can use it as a floatation device lol
Call me ignorant but the way I look at it is that if I am going to dish out $2000 for a rifle, plus a scope, bipod and what ever else I decide to stuff in a case, I want it protected in more than a $30 Canadian Tire plastic case. The Pelican and Storm cases are expensive, but it's protecting a rather large investment for me and I believe it's worth it. Going to the range i'm usually riding in a regular cab pickup with no box cap so if it's raining or snowing then I know it's protected as well. Or if I decide to lug it into a boat and head out on the lake to go somewhere, I don't have to worry about it falling overboard, since Pelican and Storm both say the case has apx 180lbs bouyancy. I think it's a worth while case to have for a expensive rifle, also being secure and durable enough to take on a airline is nice.
