Not going to rush out and get one as I don't want to be stuck with a Sig GSR which had it's teething problems when they were first introduced. Still very nice platform even without sights!

MSRP on sigarms.com is $1,299.95

I could be totally off here, but wasn't this the one that the manufacturer basically ensured would be prohib in Canada by stating it to be a derivative of the Sig 552? Still... If they were gonna be available I'd start saving my pennies...

Their literature called it a 550 derivative

- bit I think that since none of the parts of the upper and lower (with the exception of the gas tube and bolt/piston assembly is the same) are similar or interchangaeable - I would guess that if submitted to the RCMP for forensics examination - it would be classes as a new firearm - and thus unrestricted (by bbl length) and available for purchase.

However other than the AR mag feature NOTHING in this rife excites me.

YMMV

Kevin

One thing that excites me is those removeable diopter sights, I wouild love a set of those for my AR..

Barring any prohibition nonsense, what would these things cost up here? Looks a bit cheaper made than "the other Sig".... but a heck of a lot of fun.

One of the best things I like about the Sig series is the captive pins -- they went with the M16 style take down pins

Why make a Picatinny handguard with no top rail?

Sigh -- this could have been a really good design that seems to have cheaped out.

They have already been identified by forensics as prohibited.
By the way the top rifle in this picture is already available in Canada as the Swiss Arms Classic Green Carbine.

Well, I ain't crying here. It's not like we don't already have the original. Almost everyone on AR15.com thinks 556's crap, and badly wants our SG55X. We are not missing out here. I'll take SG551/552 any day over that travesty.

Redleg, can you guys order that removeable dioper rear sight?

I wonder if the HK 416 sight set would work on a flattop? for instance a SIG black special?

I'm sure just about any backup sight could be fit on. The biggest problem is that the flat top rifles would need to have a different front sight too. The fold down blade is just too short for any of the BUIS available.
