Pics of the new Sig 556

Seems like the upper is the registered part here and in the US. I'd be interested in a lower just to try out with my PE90 upper and have the use of all my AR mags.

They have already been identified by forensics as prohibited.

Did they have one to look at? I wouldn't be surprised if it were prohibited but for now I'll take that with a grain of salt considering the source... but then I'm sure TSE is completely dis-interested as to whether these can be imported.

It's not in anyone's, including our best interests to have ANY firearm prohibited.

We actually tried to help SigArms out on this one, but they ignored us and even went as far as to commit in writing to the RCMP that their guns were offspring of the SG550 series.... Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

No grey area here. Done, done done!

finally a clear profile picture of the UBR on a rilfe!!! It looks real good, I wish those f**kers would hurry up and make the damn thing - I NEED one.:) :D

x2! I have been making a list for a AR build and the UBR is going to be on my AR for sure. I can't wait till they come out!

Why ditch the smartest folding stock ever issued, for a weak compromise collapsable stock? The CAR15 Shortie was the best Colt could do c.1967 to shorten the M16 without redesigning the whole gun.

Yes the collapsable was a comprimise due to the buffer tube on the AR15 design but it has since proven very adaptable. Adjustable length of pull is very handy in todays combat environments.

This coming from the guy who hates collapsible stocks :p:runaway:

Why would a manufacturer willingly categorize their product in a way to prohibite their sale? It's just odd...

In the grand scheme, SigArms really doesn't care about a few hundred rifles to Canada when they will sell that many to individual dealers in the US.

If you're going to market something, you wnat it to appeal to the largest audience and there is so much love and envy for teh SG55X's in the USA, they are hoping to capitalize on this I believe.

Slap a Magpul CTR on there. Great stock with rock solid lock-up.

Why wouldn't they manufacture the authentic SG55X in the States instead? I realize it's probably because of the immense popularity of AR15 magazines they decided to come out with a new lower. But why did they dedicate so many resources to developing the 556 and marketing it, in the end to come out with a product that no-one inthe US seems to like, and the market that would like it (Canada), cannot get it. Yet the PE90, which I'd really like to own, costs an incredible $3,000, which is out of my reach. What is the reasoning behind all this?

Sounds like a rant, I know, but aside from the polymer AR180B, the non-existent Robarms rifles and the great-but-expensive PE90, there aren't many options for a non-restricted .223

I've often wondered why the edge doesn't lower the price and sell more of them here but I guess they have the price where they get the max profit for thier trouble.

It's not the edge who set the price. target sports sells the shorties for the same price which leads me to believe that Swiss Arms sets the price.

ETA: ignore me, I are stupid ;)

Our company bought Sig552 Commando's direct - via gov't enduser for use in Iraq - price was $1700 USD - came with IIRC 2 mags and cleaning kit.
Order was for 100+ guns.

Now what do you think an individual should pay?
