Picture of the day

The TVT, for when you want to play peek-a-boo from within the woods. The panzermuseum has a little video on youtube.

ADATS the fanciest M113 that does absolutely nothing.

To speak of ADATS, here's a mugshot of Sneer Bissonette.

Canadian acquisition of the ADATS system was marred by a scandal relating to the purchase of the land where assembly of the system was to take place. The property had been bought and sold several times over a short period of time and its price inflated before it was sold to Oerlikon. It led to the resignation of Minister of State for Transport André Bissonnette who had been directly involved in the land deal, and several criminal accusations.

The operators can't get good at the job if they don't practice, hands on with live ammo.

I don't begrudge the cost at all, just mentioning "it's not cheap" and only governments can afford to do it.

Well I was flipping through some PDFs of the old Guns magazine from the 60s, so thought I would share some interesting pics. Interesting to see what was available at different times, as well as some of the snake-oil-esque sales descriptions at times (never thought of an M1895 as being as Modern as Tomorrow, LOL). (btw, the Cetme was all over the place back then).

Sixty built, one left, in Muenster. Not popular. Loud, slow, unreliable, and they left the crew just hanging out there in the wind.
