Saw a few of the old 80s recruitment pics from DND at a recent gunshow, the one of the Leopard and Kiowa used to plastered all over the place, and got me remembering the old Leopards from the early 80s etc. Here is a 1977 one.

That is one of the rental tanks we used before ours rolled off the assembly line. Same hull but a different slab sided turret vice the German's rounded one shown here. I spent the 80s and 90s crewing them from Gagetown to Germany to Alberta. Great people and fantastic memories!
 
The Short Stirling was the first of three heavy bombers operated by Bomber Command during WW2.

She was a big old thing, appreciably bigger than either the Lanc or the Halifax:

Not as successful, though, as she operated at around 15,000 ft, right in a particularly nasty sweet spot for flak. Substantial losses. If you ever get a chance to read Murray Pedon's excellent A Thousand Shall Fall, please do.

Lare in the war, the Stirling Mk. V was developed, a transport variant. Handsome thing, to my eye anyhow.

Not a single example remains. All scrapped, sadly.
