Odd question but any chance that Is a American tank lend-lease with russian drivers and a Stalins organ mounted to it?

You guy's are splitting hair and taking the fun out of this whole thread.
Start your own thread to nit pic.
I saw a neat old plane. I don't care what it is,it's just neat that they could build something like this back then and it was because of it and many other's that we have our freedom.

Totally disagree. The point of this thread is to see the picture and discuss. The "nit-picking" as you call it broadens the knowledge base by explaining important differences that the average jack off would not notice. Knowledge is power.

Since there seems to be some interest in noting the differences between the Typhoon and the Tempest Mk V.

Typhoon - note the tailplane and the gull shaped wing, not as pronounced as a Stuka but compare it to the...

Tempest

Also note that on the Tempest the wing tips were clipped.

If you think these details are trivial, the Typhoons were mysteriously crashing and the British Air Ministry did not now why until a pilot survived and made a report of the tailplane failure. The designers of the Typhoon were already redesigning the wing as they had come to the conclusion that the wing shape was a performance limiting factor.

There were other differences and later the Tempest gets a different engine which eliminated the need for the large air scoop (I believe for a chin radiator but I'm not a plane guy).

Nice picture. Everybody is thinking the same thing...wish I could raid that pile!

So would this be at the end of the war?

I believe the 24cyl napier engines had their intakes located up front while radiators and oil coolers were located in the wing roots.
I believe the typhoon also had a cloth skin from the canopy back while the tempest was aluminum clad.

I also read that when they changed the wing shape and thickness the designers had to remove the leading edge fuel tanks and add one in front of the cockpit. This resulted in the necessity of adding a section to the fuselage.

Good morning Gunnutz New day new picture :) This picture was received from fellow Gunnut Brno8x57. With his comments- This is a picture of a Hurricane that was crashed at Kitwanga (between Terrace and Smithers BC) in 1943.

Part of the forgotten war along the pacific coast and Alaska. There is an airstrip just a few miles down stream from Kitwanga at Woodcock, built for WW2 operations.

This was on our own soil, so I think it is fitting.

damn; not much left there, sure hope he got out.

Training: My Grandmother would tell the story of British Commandos training (beach landings) off the west coast of Scotland where she lived. They ordered these guys/kids off the boat with full pack and ...swim to shore. Some didn't make it.

Cool pics. A German U-boat sank a couple freighters out in Conception Bay, around 5 miles from where I grew up, so ya, the war came closer than some think.
