If you think these details are trivial, the Typhoons were mysteriously crashing and the British Air Ministry did not now why until a pilot survived and made a report of the tailplane failure. The designers of the Typhoon were already redesigning the wing as they had come to the conclusion that the wing shape was a performance limiting factor.
There were other differences and later the Tempest gets a different engine which eliminated the need for the large air scoop (I believe for a chin radiator but I'm not a plane guy).
