Umm if it was accelerating the rear of the tank would be squatting and the front lifting. Under speed the suspension would be more or less neutral; or the same as at rest, no?

I think it's a staged photo and what appears to be dust is the engine exhaust on a running but stationary vehicle. I don't know about the later models but those old tanks had terrible suspensions. No way that many troops would be sitting that casually on one that was underway. Not only that, all of the treads on the tracks are in focus. That wouldn't happen if it were underway.

I think they have the "Mein Gott, Franz! Was ist das ....?" look as they spot something potentially deadly ahead on the road. A battle plan is about to be implemented.

Any ride is better than no ride. A lot of German shoe leather (and horse harness) got worn out during WW2. I once had a landlord who was one of the luckiest WW2 vets I ever met. He was an ethnic German, born and living in the Ukraine who started out in the Russian Army, got scarfed and served in the German Army after the Nazi invasion, and then got captured and re-incarnated as an interpreter in the Russian Army. He still had his jackboots. This was about 1964 or so and he was very reluctant to talk about his experiences.

I like butter as much as the next guy - heck of a lot healthier than manipulated vegetable oils - but I'm always reminded of what Nathanial Herreshoff called it: "pleasant tasting grease intended to allow lazy people to swallow their food without chewing!" I guess he wouldn't have liked Mayo either! :)
