Picture of the day

Try Eva Braun.......

Fellow I worked with made him dinner in 1938. Strict vegetarian, water to drink, but he had a serious addiction to Austrian cream cakes, could nosh out on them all night..... and did. When you are Der Fuhrer you can do that, you know!

Hitler did like to hang out with the girls from UFA, as did Reichsminister Gobbels, but at least Adolf didn't marry one of them. Eva was a lab assistant working for Hitler's photographer, Heinrich Hoffmann, who was one of the pioneers of colour photography. They met when she made a delivery of photos to the Reichskanzlei. She is often categorised as a stereotypical dumb blonde but the fact was that she was a lot sharper than most people (including Adolf) often gave her credit for being.

As to the Fallschirmjager photo, we have to remember than even they had to train.

Germans burned up a LOT of blank rounds in training, especially when higher-ups were inspecting. THAT is the reason for the wooden-bulleted MG blank ammo found everywhere in Normandy.

This guy knows what he's doing with the gun, though. His hand is on the barrel CASING but it is nowhere near the ejection port. Forty-two ejects DOWN, bouncing the cases off the front of the triggerguard. That's why the guard is so damned wide. That's also why it looks as if the thing ejects forward; the empties pile up under the rear end of the barrel casing, forward of the ejection port.

You could do this with a '42 for a belt but, after that, you had better set it down.

Hey, if John Wayne could do it with a Browning, why can't Fritz do it with his gun?

Maybe he saw the movie!

My second daughter is named Eva :)

I had a customer who came in recently whose name was Eva braun, moved from over the water and she is in her late 20's early 30's. Took me a second to realize how I knew that name but kept my mouth shut as to why.

Good day Gents :) New day new picture :)

y'know what we should have done was aluminized those chutes and played "war of the worlds " on german radio at the time- look at all the panic the english one caused- the aluminized chutes would show as flying saucers in the right light and on radar

A lady who I know in Oakville, Ontario worked at the Berghof throughout the war.
She has many stories relating to this and many, many others.

I have tried to get her write or have her time their recorded.

Her Uncle was high up in the Nazi regime and shall remain nameless due to her wishes.

She was brought to Canada after WW2 by the U.S. Gov. at the time.

I have seen many artifacts from her sister who now resides in Austria and who also worked at the Berghof.

Her boyfriend was a highly decorated Stuka Pilot.

Her sister sent all his belongings to Canada years ago.

She wanted no more memories.

I would love to post the pictures, but I must respect her wishes.

DC3 picture. Jumpers were coming out the starboard side. Flopped negative?

ME109. two bladed prop. Must be an early model.

not me109- bf109- actually a v1 prototype- proper designation is bf109 right through the g-k series
as for the c-47( not dc3) flopped neg for sure- those that did have the starboard rear door had only a passenger type door, not the cargo/passenger- and those only came later
