This picture is a nice example of Soviet propaganda, they used the picture above which is real and superposed these three people on it.

Look carefully at the treeline and the grass in the background. It has been repeated in the second photo, where the soldier was in the first photo

You're being polite, the site is not credible in my opinion. Photo's 3 and 4 are taken with different cameras and at different angles. Pic 4 is not a doctored Pic 3.

I'm not sure if your post is directed to me or not, but I am not interested in changing history. I am aware that my suggestion might bring this accusation on, but I am also well aware that the factual history of war is not pretty, nor need it be changed. I simply suggested that the OP might want to consider removing that picture.

It's a well know fact that the picture in question is a fake, do your research people and you'll find out. I replaced it by another picture anyway.

What's that rifle the guy in the stream has? Looks like a Mosin {dog} collar sling, but...

Its posible that its PE or PU sniper since they are wearing camouflage.
But.... What exactly ?

the first definitely looks like a mosin - if there is a scope on it, it's far enough back to be tucked in under his arm..... the second is a little more of a mystery - looks like an SVT, but the mag ooks too long - the bayonet is wrong and I don't see, the stamped steel pieces, cleaning rod, muzzle brake or sight post!

It could be - did they ever have an extended mag for the SVT?

It's seems to be a AVS 36 since those had 15 round mags but there's not weird muzzle brake maybe its a svt 38 since it looks like there is a barrel band by his thumb

The sight post is there but mixed in with the background

I think you are definitely right on AVS36 call - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Red_army_World_War_II_rifles.JPG mostly because of the sling arrangement
