Look to be an At-tank gun. Small pak 36?
Barrel stuck out the window............
I wonder if it was a posed picture.
some of the captured German snipers did not. I believe both sides were very *cross* when they captured a sniper.I had noted that as well. Wonder if that sniper went on to survive the war.

RIP Seaman Mendonsa, you served your country as a fighting seaman on a destroyer in the Pacific, but a single kiss made you the pride of sailors everywhere.

For sure, it's a posed picture for propaganda.
A sniper will never take this kind of position to shoot in combat situation.
Its unfortunate that someone chose to deface the monument in Florida (that depicts this moment) with "#metoo" in spray paint.
Don't worry, the Politically Correct crowd will have the statue removed eventually, to protect us all from the offence of it all.

There's a huge statue of this at the Memorial Museum in Caen, France. Most of the museum is focused on the war in Normandy, so I found it a bit incongruous that this statue was there. There's another huge statue rendition of this beside the USS Midway museum in San Diego. It looks more appropriate there.
The lady never complained about being ###ually assaulted, when the sailor became famous ?
