Speaking of Japanese soldiers and WW2...

"Well, lads, let's have a talk. And if I like what I hear, I won't let these gentlemen eat you..."

Supposedly Japanese soldiers called the Allied coas####chers (from the New Guinea area) 'green ghosts'. Mainly because these people knew the bush like the back of their hand. They were able to ambush Japanese troop columns at will and liquidate Japanese soldiers on a one by one basis, very quietly, often without the troop column realizing what was happening. Of course this might have been propaganda to use against the Japanese.

Seeing that airborne Jeep brought this thought to mind: "Oh, my aching a$$!".

Having ridden around in such a Jeep for a decade, I can vouch for the lack of padding in the 'rumble seat'. The driver and co-pilot have a better chance of not pounding their tail bones up to waist level.
