Interesting the difference in traditions between services. Arty guys are a little fetish-y about the Sanctity of the Gun, what with the royal cipher on the tube and all. The thought of a gunner scootching his arse along the barrel would give the RSM all the justification he needed to make said gunner a very unhappy person for a length of time measured in months, if not years...
