MG 08 heavy metal machine post on wheels I think of a Portuguese modification. I can't say anything about officers. I don't know.

Luis Dylan
Vickers heavy machine gun - Maxim (usually only known as Maxim), of 6,5 mm caliber GB, ordered in 1906. Only 72 guns purchased.

TEMPLARY CRUZ WITH PINK IN THE CENTRE
Above Porta de Almedina, on the nascent side of Castle dos Templar in Tomar, is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) cross templar found in Portugal.
It is a templar cross with a rose in the center, which shows the existing link between the Templars and the ancient Rosa-Cross with roots in the Egyptian Initiative Confrarias.
Another particularity of this cross is that it features a set of grooves, forming in each arm a pyramid, indicating the esoteric bond (because being exoteric would be considered heresy by the powers instituted at the time) between the East and the West, one of the mobile phones of the mission carried out by the Poor Knights of the Militia of Christ.
According to José Hermano Saraiva, this primitive templar cross would have given rise to the five Quinas of the Portuguese Escudo: four of the quinas would represent the existing spaces between the arms of the cross and the fifth would be represented in the central part, where the rose is found.
Above the cross is an inscription ′′ IN:E:M:C:XC:VIII ′′ which according to the late historian must read 1198 of the Age of Caesar, which, subtracting the 38 years, would give 1160 of the Age of Christ, i.e. the year of Tomar Castle Foundation.

Sergeant William Gerard Hussen,of the Fort Garry Horse, landed at Juno Beach, Bernières-sur-Mer on D-Day (June 6, 1944). His tank had just been hit by a glancing blow from a German 88 mm shell

Note the K98 on his back.

I wonder if my Grandfather knew him. He landed on D Day +1 with HQ and Sigs Sqn of the Fort Garry's. He passed away three and a half years ago.

Sgt. Hussen of the FGH has the tanker's helmet I assume. Also he has interesting button down (?) pants at the ankles and an interesting boot attachment unknown to me. JOHN

they look like standard battle dress trousers .. without puttees.

I believe the troops were issued web anklets ,though the 3rd Infantry Division were issued high top combat boots , but this fellow has lost them , or discarded them, interestingly the Canadian Army swung back to the puttees , Post War , even as late as 1971 ,when I joined the Militia, ( Army Reserves) I wore puttees, with battledress , trousers weights

Interesting the way the side protection was increased.

Still the SNEB FFAR 37 mm rocket
In Portugal, she also made a naval career, in another successful adaptation to the operational needs. This, perhaps more unexpected, given it's an Air Force weapon.
Bellatrix class Bellatrix of Guinea Maritime Defence Command's Small Surveillance Boards were installed 37 mm rocket nests.
Photos of LFP Bellatrix (P363) and LFP Aldebaran (P1152). The first with an adapted plane launcher, the second with a system built for that purpose, easier to remunerate and shaped a long-standing lookout position in large exposure Solar.
[Edit Edit - Nest / Pods Discussion in comment Do-27 below.

The concept of super-heavy multi-turreted breakthough tanks was being considered by several armies in the 1930s. The French FCM F1 was intended to mount both 47mm and 90mm guns, weigh about 150 tons and had armor 100mm thick.
The plan was to build 12 of these monsters, and they were only cancelled on May 15, 1940.
