Picture of the day

Korean Marines during the Vietnam war.

The South Korean government, under the administration of Park Chung-hee, took an active role in the Vietnam War. From September 1964 to March 1973, South Korea sent some 350,000 troops to South Vietnam.

The South Korean Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force all participated as an ally of the United States. The number of troops from South Korea was much greater than those from Australia and New Zealand, and second only to the U.S. military force for foreign troops located in South Vietnam.

This is an excellent reminder; a USMC exchange officer I knew had been attached to a Korean Marine battalion in Vietnam as a junior officer. He had an extremely high regard for them. Interestingly a law enforcement type once confided that he thought Korean organized crime were the toughest group he knew of.

Considering the MG34's reported requirement for surgically clean environments, I wonder if Erwin's Lads left that in place to drive the Tommies mad.

I found most MG34s ran quite well under just about any condition, other than being full of mud. The 42 was a real pain in the butt for cleanliness and a whole bunch of other things, usually caused by belt feeding issues.

Both are great mechanisms and I liked them.

The Tommy in the pic is going to have trouble with that gun. Mostly because he doesn't have a crew member to hold up the belt for smooth feed.

^ Everyone in military uniform around the world.

On a pleasant note.

HOWW! Have you never shot with a Dragunov?

I have one, and I can tell you it's very accurate.

All depend of the shooter.

Yes, I have and IMHO, they aren't accurate enough to make consistent shots out to the the distance the sniper took out the commander.

I'm not even hinting it didn't happen, or that the sniper wasn't very skilled.

Prevailing winds and luck had a lot to do with that shot, IMHO
