Pissing in the woods!

Knowing your wind matters more. You could be the smelliest dude alive, but if the winds is in your face, animal probably won't smell you. Good trick is a zippo lighter to test wind direction.

I've heard some suggestions that pissing on scraps and such can be good to "aggravate" a rutting buck, but can't verify.

Edit grammar, and added lighter test.

Scent-free products are the biggest scam of the hunting industry. The wind is the only scent-free product you need. If they can smell your pee, which they don't care about, they can smell you. Piss away.

Wind is the only scent free thing that actually works 100% as there is no product out there that can completely eliminate or mask the odours on our bodies and clothing. Maybe ozone generators, but even then going from house to vehicle to bush after clothes are treated you’re still picking up and creating scent.

Marketing over the years has many convinced they can’t go deer hunting unless they:

-Shower with scent control products
-Wash clothing in scent control products
-Store clothing in scent control bags
-Put scent elimination products in said bags
-Spray with scent elimination before hunting
-apply cover scent
-spray some form of synthetic deer urine

That’s a whole lot of steps and and a wide variety of “must have” products marketing has told us we need to have to kill a deer….

Sorry, but Laughing!!!!:ROFLMAO:

I am not a big time hunter but I have been in a stand for Black bear near bait and the outfitter was rather adamant about us bringing a bottle to relieve ourselves while in the stand. It was a big deal for him anyways. As for deer a buddy of mine will piss in the scrapes and its amazing how much the bucks tear it up overnight. It seems to be more a thing of what you are hunting.
Good luck with your new interest.
Know several folks that do just that (peeing on scrapes), and I took to the habit, based on results. The dominant buck doesn't like ANYONE marking on 'his' territory.

Former hunting partner and co-worker in Edmonton, was hanging a rat on the side of the trail, and ended up shooting a moose with his junk hanging out in the breeze, the bull hearing the splashing, and investigating the noise! TLDR: Don't put your gun down out of reach, while you relieve yourself!

Which loosely ties in with a 'rule' at one camp I went to, which was, "Nobody goes to the outhouse without a loaded gun", as there had been pretty regular sightings of moose out the outhouse door. And a couple harvests...

Related, I was at a hunt near Hudson Bay SK, and we found a stump that had been visited by the local wolf pack, based on the small patches of yellow snow and tracks. Stood on the top of the stump, and turned around as urinating, spraying a decent sized circle. Next day, absolute chaos of yellow snow and tracks around that stump!

... and even in a perfect world where you've done all of those things, the deer will still smell your breath...

The industry has convinced hunters they need all the bells and whistle to shoot deer when all they really need is skills and knowledge. No amount of gear makes up for lack of proficiency as a hunter or most important of all, lack of game.

Yep. Had WAY too many deer walk withing feet of me, while all I did was sit still, to be all that concerned about scent, as if scent was a problem, they would not have been in the same grid square, let alone minding their own oblivious business ten or fifteen feet away from me.

New, yet to actually hunt hunter here. I've read some of the posts regarding scent blockers and such and it seems the consensus is that these are mostly not needed. But what about taking a leak anywhere near where you are hunting? Is that a complete no-no and guys piss in a bottle to bring home? Or...am I completely over thinking it and it really doesn't matter?

Maybe a goofy question, but I'm genuinely curious!
Pissing is okay just don't take a dump unless you burry it quick. I had to drop a Stanley steamer one time in the bush and I heard this loud snort and then another snort. I offended the nostrils of a deer or two down wind from this guy . garlic curry whatever.

I pissed in a mock scrape infront of my trail cam this past fall one hour later a nice buck came by and pissed in it as well I’m a firm believer in pissing in the woods and hunting with the wind in your face

Hunt the wind!! An animal that detects your scent is going to be one you are never going to see or get a shot at.
Now as for urinating? I've pee'd in deer scrapes and/or made my own scrapes on a trail being used between scrapes and set cameras nearby overlooking them. It doesn't bother them in the least, in fact I think it kind of fires them up to judge by the action I see on the cameras.
