PLEASE HELP[me choose a .357 from 3 models]

I wouldn't get any of the 357's you listed...

I'd go with either 5 shot Smith & Wesson Model 60 .357 Magnum Five Inch Kit Gun
or a 8 shot S&W Performance Center Model 327 TRR8 Revolver.

I've seen lots of chatter about 686's, Pythons, King Cobra's & Rugers.

Anyone got an opinion (I know someone has) on S&W Model 19's, 27's & 28's.

I currently own two Pythons and love them to death but have been thinking about getting a Model 27 with 5" barrel when one pops up.

Ruger GP100 is really built to last. They use extra steel compared to SW. Some people say it makes the gun too heavy, but if you're planning on shooting magnum rounds, you're safer with the extra durability. I find the Ruger a little heavy, but I plan to only shoot it with both hands. It's a really solid gun. SW's are prettier looking than Rugers, but I prefer durability. I plan on using mostly 38 special, but I might try a couple 357 rounds if I get the courage to. lol.

i am also in the market for a new .357 have shot the 686 and liked it but found the colt to have a nicer grip for larger hands. S&W grip seems too short.

How does a 1979 Dan Wesson model 15 compare to these guns? It's got beautiful bluing and is in immaculate shape and due to BC's CFO mailing instead of faxing and not answering phones, I pick it up this coming Saturday instead of last.

Not that I am bitter or anything.

Dan Wessons are great revolvers IF accuracy is your #1 priority out of the box. They are really different from every other revolver out there, due to the barrel thing and the positioning of the cylinder latch. Dan Wessons are also coil spring based, unlike Colt D frames and Smiths K,L,N frames. Make sure you keep the side plate screws tight and you'll have a long lasting highly accurate revolver. It's kind of the P7M8 of the revolver world, though - it has a unique manual of arms and it will probably cause issues if you try to go back and forward between 'regular' revovlers and a Dan in a competition setting.

The Model 27 is an amazing device, particularly the older ones. The Model 28 is a 'working' version of the 27 - both are large 'N' framed, heavy revolvers and with any degree of maintenance they will outlast their owners children. The Model 19 is a medium-small 'K' frame which is really better suited to 38 than 357. There were issues with wear in the K frames when using 357's all the time. As a 38 however they are superb and the trigger mechanism can be turned into an absolute dream, by a skilled specialist. Almost all revolvers are more mechanically accurate than the people holding them, so that's not an issue.

What I've heard of the Model 19 is that they handle 357 fine as long as it's a little milder load with a heavy bullet. I think the problem is with the light bullets impacting the forcing cone and cracking it. I've been shooting lots of 357 158gr in mine without ill effect. The Model 27's seem like an awesome gun and I have one on the way myself.
