Not necessarily. We often forget that the "gun part" of being a police officer is a very small part of the job (though of course the first thing that comes to mind on CGN). Also, if a recruit shows a high level of interest in the gun side of things during the recruitment/training phase, a lot of questions might well be asked. I believe the theory is that the police will train you what you need to know about guns.
