Poll: knife carrying

Yes I carry two knifes on me at all times A gerber on my hip and a Winchester laminated in my pocket. I live in the country and always needing to cut something or fix something. The Winchester pocket knife doesn't scare the #### out of anyone when a buddy forgets the knife at lunch the finger moulded gerber on the other hand always gets me a few psycho looks.
 
I usually carry a knife on me. For me it's not whether to carry, it is which one. I leave them at home if I am going somewhere they won't be allowed like a hockey game or airport.

Why? You never know. I had a car accident a few years ago and my knife allowed me to cut myself out of my seatbelt. Like others, I find them to be useful tools.
 
When I need to use my knife either for myself or another, I open it discreetly, "wield" it in an efficient non threatening way and then discreetly close it and put it back in my pocket.

I have seen others flick their knives open given any opportunity and it can startle the flock.... :)
 
If I'm wearing pants I am carrying a knife. Have since I got my first pocket knife at 8 years old. Can't imagine not carrying one. Goes in the checked luggage when on the plane.

REMEMBER ... this is Canada... you are not allowed to carry a " concealed weapon "
If you should ever use one to defend yourself i believe you will be charged!!
Now... if you carry one for as a tool... be ready to prove why you need it!
 
Carry one of two Leatherman Multi's every time I leave the house. Signal for 'discreet' outings and OHT for expected heavier use.
The only exception is crossing the border.
 
I wear a Leatherman on duty, and occasionally a belt folder as well, I carry a small folder in a pocket or clipped on a belt every minute of every day..and when I am serious about working outside doing manly things around the property or hunting/fishing I wear a small fixed blade (SOG Seal Pup Elite usually).

I don't even consider the legal aspect, every single person I know is either a tradesman, police officer, firefighter, recreational shooter, hunter, etc. and it's nearly impossible that any man woman or child on the planet can't come up with a legitimate reason to have a sharp object to make things that are one piece into 2 or more pieces.

The only reason I can see someone saying they never need a knife is because someone else in the room lends them one.

Pretty much agree here...
Regardless of what sillyass laws/bylaws etc that may be in play....carrying a reasonably sized knife/multitool etc is benign and doesn't/shouldn't raise any legal concern...of any kind.
And to the nanistate lunatics who are "uncomfortable" with someone having such a article on their person....they need to shake their heads and understand that it is intent and or actions that constitute a threat...any threat...and they are at risk to same at all times regardless of what they see or are uncomfortable about.....these sheeple won't have the situational awareness or common sense to avoid moving traffic or other day2day actual threats.

I literally chuckle/ignore when someone makes a negative remark to me regarding having a knife on my person.

All this aside...the choir may sit...

I always carry an edc folder....have since my childhood.
As routine as putting on my watch....feel naked without either.
I routinely have use for it in daily civilian life....and I carry several different knives and multitools professionally as a Paramedic....routinely deploy them in time sensitive scenarios to good effect....nobody seems to snivel about havin a knife handy then... :) :)

As a young soldier I also routinely carried a folder and multitool...and when armed a fixed blade sheath knife and a rifle bayo. Goes without sayin" I "spose.

That's YMM arrogance. I've lived on the "left coast" for sixty-some years and carried a cutting tool daily for the better part of that time. Not sure I see your "logic", though your tendency toward generalization is readily apparent.
 
i always have a knife of some kind with me. generally a folder. how else are you going to get the twine off round bales or open that stubborn packaging at work. just another tool to me but a valuable one.

An old shooting buddy back in Petawawa had a picture of a C7A2 up as his desktop back ground. A female Cpl who worked in the vicinity saw it and reported him. Apparently it "made her feel uncomfortable" and he was ordered to remove it by CoC. True story troops!

Used to carry a locking 4.5" blade Swiss army knife, carry a Leatherman Wingman now. Pliers come in handier than a corkscrew on a daily basis. Always have lighter and a pen on me too, as well as a 4" crescent wrench hanging on a carabiner tucked in my back pocket and a Moleskin journal for my left back pocket as well. I wear it on my belt. If someone made a deal about I'd ask how they felt about knives in the home ec room. Inteach in a high school. No one has ever told me not to carry it.
