I strongly disagree. By doing so you are voluntarily admitting that you are dangerous to the society and need to be "bonded".

If you are readily admitting a 12(x) pistol shooting wimpy 32 ACP is dangerous, why are not 45 ACP and all the rifles out there are less dangerous?

This is fundamentally wrong, and you are shooting your own toes by coming up with this idea. Using this rationale, the government can come up with a system of "safety bond" to target each class of firearms based on their arbitrary perception on their danger to the society. Is this what you want?

And do you want a society where the government openly labels items or activities they don't like as dangerous and have people involved "bonded"?

Agreed. No seemingly good idea is immune from the evil intent and twists of our enemies. No 12(x)er feels privileged, particularily where those guns can't be used.

I say, if safe storage is such a good idea then the government should PAY US to do it as a tax write off. Like those apples?

They may not "feel" privileged, but the liberals did bestow a little more "freedom" upon a very select group of individuals.
Unfortunately they are also prime targets of the grabbers.

Mmmmm, only if it came with CCW/CHL.
Even then, I want my full rights to defend myself with the same means available to the rich/powerful/famous/well-connected.
My life is worth protecting and shouldn't need $$$$ to beg the government to do so.

Assuming I had a Prohib.
I have never killed anybody with my restricteds.
If my Prohib was changed to restricted, would I go on a killing spree?
If I paid $5,000 would my urges to kill with my previously-prohibited, now restricted, my thought processes and drive to kill with newly reclassified gun, be overcome by the $5000?
Would $10,000 be doubly effective in restraining my urges to kill?

Yes, there is a far better way to deal with corrupt government. Widespread civil disobedience.
I will not hand over more of my hard earned money to elitist, arrogant, thieving, lying government.

Someone gets it!!!

$5K for CCW would be better

Can I infer from this that you are dead-set against CCW/ATC?
ATC is theoretically possible now in Canada, but the conditions to get it are set far too high.
Adding a $5000 fee on top would absolutely lock out damn near everyone.

If you are solidly against concealed carry, I respect your choice, but I do not share your view.

The meaning of my comment was that if $5K was all it took to get CCW in Canada, I'd pay it in a heartbeat. I am a firm believer that law abiding citizens should be able to have CCW. I use the US term as the ATC concept in Canada is an illusion for most people at this point in time.

I knew what you meant.
It was my way off pointing out the flaw in your thinking...
As the moderator of the CCW Sub-forum here (http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/141-CCW-Discussion) I am also a firm believer in having that option.
My point is that the concept of yet another voluntary tax is absolutely wrong. It is a very bad idea, and a dangerous direction to go.
It would likely be the start of the end as more classes were created, and the cost was jacked sky-high.
$5000 to START?
It blows my mind how many people have signed up for this nonsense...

I would how many of those same people claiming to be willing to choke up $5000 have donated anything to the gun orgs?
