Poly Tech Type 81 Fixed Stock - 7.62x39, 18.7"

Firearms Outlet sold out in no time. There are obviously a lot of interests in these rifles. The demand is much bigger than supplies. If you don't even own a T81, why did you keep coming to these threads? Why did you have to bash these rifles? If you don't like them, forget about them and go shoot the ones you love. Let the T81 lovers be. We love these rifles. I for one will buy another one once they become available again.

Couldn't have said it better myself, put simply many are feeling buyers remorse for their poor decisions.

Don't worry to those who bought, you may be able to salvage $600-700 on equipment Exchange for you're poor decisions.

I don't regret buying my two type 81s one bit. No buyers remorse here and I'm sure others will agree
I will admit that I am not a fan of "made in China" stuff but these are actually quite nice and they are good shooters and most of all they are fun, isn't that why we got into into guns in the first place?

$1200-1500 in the future? Please sir, do help me understand how any sane individual would be willing to pay $1500 Hunderd dollars of their hard earned Fiat for this poor excuse for a rifle.

Only combat fottage I have seen the Type-81 in was against unarmed civilians or the Viet who wippped the floor with the The Chinese People's Liberation Army and their type-81.

Now sir as for the VZ58 the Czech are renound for their small arms manufacturing. Doesn't hurt to have a little German injected in there with the lothar walther barrels the VZ58 sports.
I'm afraid sir when it comes to the type 81 it simply is nothing more then crudely manufactured Chinese pure grade junk. And to deny that fact puts you at odds with reality.

But there is hope my fellow nutters. Whispers of a 7.62x39 we can all be proud to slip those ak mags into. The M10x D Mother F☆☆☆ing R

Don't call me sir, but if this makes me at "odds with reality" than go ahead and call me odd. I would agree with your fake fottage review but then we'd both be wrong.

Shame on me... just read 10 pages of tabloid garbage; that’s what I get for closing up shop and nothing to do for a few days.

The main points you should take away from this are:
-if you buy a junky rifle it will be a junky rifle.
-people will find ways to profit from Canadians inability to own aks ( no ill will to the dealer, business is business)
-t81 is an ugly heavy clunky unmodifiable rifle.
-t81 is an ugly heavy clunky unmodifiable rifle.
- times infinity
Happy new Year

Unmodifiable?? Really?? Who told you that?

I couldn't be happier stuck with mine and I am neither poor or a sucker... You don't own one, you can't speak for those of us who do.

"You're either with us or against us"

George Bush 2001 address to Congress

A man who loved freedom with breath he took.

SKS45 defending Commie junk to his last breath. Well I'm the freedom loving dude in Tiananmen Square saying, Yeah if it was in AK variant I'd be down. But come on ppl it's a crudely made SKS.

Nothing is going to fill that ak void. Not 1 type 81 Not 100 type 81's

But in all seriousness I would rather go into battle with Daryl's crossbow then a type 81.And that's a fact, swish from 3-point line.

Have you handled and shot a Chinese Type 56 (AK47)? I haven't shot a Type 56, but I have extensively shot other AK variants.

I also own a significant SKS collection as well as a CZ858 and CZH2003 (CZ858 variant).

I am happy to defend this great rifle for many obvious reasons:

The one-inch-longer barrel helps to improve accuracy over the kalashnikov design by increasing the muzzle velocity by 33 fps over the Type 56 (AK47).

Unlike the SKS the Type 81 uses a Kalashnikov-style two-lug rotating design and a large bolt carrier that resembles the Dragunov SVD. The return spring and guide rod are based on that of the AK. With these design features range test have shown the Type 81 to be 40 percent more accurate than the AK family at 300 meters.

Durability and reliability requirements exceed the AK family in many ways. The receiver of the Type 81 is made from 1.5mm steel stampings instead of the AKM's one millimeter, with an extra latitudinal folding added to the sides for strength. A massive trunnion connects the barrel to the receiver, and it also provides the locking slots for the bolt to lock the action.

The entire gas system and barrel are hard chromed, and everything else is blued (although the bluing is thin). The Type 81's gas regulator can also be placed on a high setting when more energy is needed to cycle the weapon under adverse conditions. The Type 81 was built to last 20,000 rounds. Canadians shooting 5 rounds a mag and in semi-auto will never wear out the receiver or barrel. It is built with the same machines that manufacture the Chinese AK (Type 56) and has the same loose tolerance, the same level of reliability in adverse conditions.

The Type 81 trigger mechanism is loosely based on the AK's trigger. The Type 81's selector is much more conveniently located on the left side of the receiver then that of the AK. Compared to the selector on the AK, the Type 81's smaller thumb selector is much less clunky and faster to use.

The fit and finish is about the same as a Type 56 (AK47) or AKM.

The rifle is longer and slightly heavier than the AKM but lighter than the milled-receiver AK47. Its accuracy is not bad for a stamped-receiver rifle, and it is on par with many Kalashnikov variants (although we know it’s not a variant).

I have no issue defending this rifle, I am amazed that we can even get our hands on it!

Definitely Daryl's crossbow, far more accurate at 50 yards then a type-81. Also I don't have to be seen holding a type-81.
Or I would craft a spear from a tree branch. Far more dependable then a type-81

I bought quite a few of these t81's, all mine are well put together, straight and function perfect, they are much better than I thought they would be, love mine

I have a Type 81 which has a slight but noticeable curve down the length of it. I bet it's still reliable as it's designed to be, plus I get to snipe stuff around corners! I talked to TI and I just have to send them some pictures before deciding what to do. I wouldn't give it up though if I am not 110% guaranteed I'm getting a replacement. I've done enough work building Valmet clones that I am comfortable I can fix the misalignment myself, but it would be a pretty big undertaking which I'd rather not do myself. But I really love the looks of the rifle and I'm actually going to see what it would entail making a rifle similar to that from scratch using raw steel and select gun parts. I have machining and welding skills, and tools, QA tools, and a good hookup for different alloy steels at cheap prices. Once my M71 and Galil clones are done in a month or so its something ill seriously look into. That being said, if the FOC Team happens upon a folder for sale in the new years I'd love to buy one, as they seem to be "straight shooters" ;)

I'd buy one for $499.

You know why? Cause my SKS not only outshoots this AK substitute, it also accepts AR mags :D

It is OK to be jealous, just don't lie about it

I'd be jealous if I didn't have the money to buy one. Seeing as that is not the case, I don't think I'm jealous at all. In fact 3 of my friend have bought them and I could access one anytime I want. A thousand dollar Chinese rifle if hardly coveting material for me.

It's an OK rifle by Chinese standards but it's nothing I dream about at night.
