"You're either with us or against us"
George Bush 2001 address to Congress
A man who loved freedom with breath he took.
SKS45 defending Commie junk to his last breath. Well I'm the freedom loving dude in Tiananmen Square saying, Yeah if it was in AK variant I'd be down. But come on ppl it's a crudely made SKS.
Nothing is going to fill that ak void. Not 1 type 81 Not 100 type 81's
But in all seriousness I would rather go into battle with Daryl's crossbow then a type 81.And that's a fact, swish from 3-point line.
Have you handled and shot a Chinese Type 56 (AK47)? I haven't shot a Type 56, but I have extensively shot other AK variants.
I also own a significant SKS collection as well as a CZ858 and CZH2003 (CZ858 variant).
I am happy to defend this great rifle for many obvious reasons:
The one-inch-longer barrel helps to improve accuracy over the kalashnikov design by increasing the muzzle velocity by 33 fps over the Type 56 (AK47).
Unlike the SKS the Type 81 uses a Kalashnikov-style two-lug rotating design and a large bolt carrier that resembles the Dragunov SVD. The return spring and guide rod are based on that of the AK. With these design features range test have shown the Type 81 to be 40 percent more accurate than the AK family at 300 meters.
Durability and reliability requirements exceed the AK family in many ways. The receiver of the Type 81 is made from 1.5mm steel stampings instead of the AKM's one millimeter, with an extra latitudinal folding added to the sides for strength. A massive trunnion connects the barrel to the receiver, and it also provides the locking slots for the bolt to lock the action.
The entire gas system and barrel are hard chromed, and everything else is blued (although the bluing is thin). The Type 81's gas regulator can also be placed on a high setting when more energy is needed to cycle the weapon under adverse conditions. The Type 81 was built to last 20,000 rounds. Canadians shooting 5 rounds a mag and in semi-auto will never wear out the receiver or barrel. It is built with the same machines that manufacture the Chinese AK (Type 56) and has the same loose tolerance, the same level of reliability in adverse conditions.
The Type 81 trigger mechanism is loosely based on the AK's trigger. The Type 81's selector is much more conveniently located on the left side of the receiver then that of the AK. Compared to the selector on the AK, the Type 81's smaller thumb selector is much less clunky and faster to use.
The fit and finish is about the same as a Type 56 (AK47) or AKM.
The rifle is longer and slightly heavier than the AKM but lighter than the milled-receiver AK47. Its accuracy is not bad for a stamped-receiver rifle, and it is on par with many Kalashnikov variants (although we know it’s not a variant).
I have no issue defending this rifle, I am amazed that we can even get our hands on it!
